KOTD publication · 2:26pm Nov 14th, 2019
One dream I had, was publishing KOTD. There's one obstacle first: removing all MLP elements from it. So I'm officially on chapter 3 of my full rewrite and it's rather taxing. The initial chapters where I describe the sisters was the hardest. So far, "Find and replace all" is my best friend, but then there's small details like when I reference Luna (Her name is changed to Lefona) and I have to change her description of appearance like "purple wings". Nothing too bad but holy crap. I really don't want to reread the entire book all over again. The plus side, is being able to do literally w/e I want with their culture. For instance, the fact that the humans and Equestrians speak the same language?
“Something else has crossed my mind, Princess. I find it odd we speak the same language.”
Her eyes widen and those gorgeous teal pearls make me flinch as she looks up at me.
“Oh that! We don’t actually speak the same language. A long time ago, a great sorcerer of our people decided to unite all the races by casting a global spell that allows us to understand each other. You hear us speaking your language, we hear you speaking ours. It took many years to create and many more to store the magical power needed to cast it. It’s not perfect and has issues with certain other languages, making the speaker sound...odd, but it doesn’t take long to at least get the basics down. I’m afraid this magic was before our time and we’ve grown so accustomed to it, that very few ponies even know of its existence. It’s also noted in our ancient logs that the spell is also gradually changing every species speech to all be the same language. Even if it were dispelled, it would only be our two species that would have difficulties most likely.”
This also lets me do stuff like justify when they say "Everypony" as the spell's best attempt to translate it.
Changing everyone's appearance was a nightmare as well, but I've enjoyed it and took the time to give everyone and everything more details because why the hell not?
