This is exactly me. In the 80s and now. Even wearing the prim nightgown.

But seriously. Also I just realized Suzie is probably why a tech nerd like Dusty is so conversant with My Little Pony. She made him watch 'Rescue at Midnight Castle' and he was impressed.
I'm also interested that they made Suzie a Mormon; there are a lot of great Mormon spec fic writers -- like, half the Writing Excuses team, for instance.
Of couse one of my many backburner story ideas is a Stranger Things/MLP G1/MLP G4/Neverending Story crossover. El and Twi fight the Nothing. Can't quite get it to work tho. IIRC Atreu/Bastian beat the Nothing by naming a Princess? Yeah, Twi's all set already. Maybe I should rewatch/read the novel.
Naming the Princess wasn't the point, it was just the mechanism. And it wasn't naming her, it was Naming her :p Also she wasn't so much a Princess as the incarnation of dreams. What was really going on is that the world of stories and human imagination was reinventing itself, and using Bastion and the reader as the vehicle to do so. The book is a lot more clear on this.
Of course, the book can also be treated as if it was a major arc of The Sandman and literally nothing changes except the rating. Seriously, NOTHING. Definitely read it, it's amazing.
Now, G1 has a portal to fiction and at one point they break out right? There's your crossover source then. As to how everyone gets to Equestria, if you don't wind up referencing The Wizard of Oz and Somewhere Over the Rainbow something has gone terribly wrong. G4 can get into the mix because Starlight does her Time Travel thing.
Though we do run into my problem that I tend to think of G4 as an isolated part of the world during the Discordian era. But that's just my personal insanity.
