Of course 'DONE' in this context means 'second draft'. But I've also managed to shave off a lot of excess verbiage, giving me some wiggle room if I have time to go back in and pad things out. The obsessive in me wants to drag out Save the Cat Writes a Novel to make sure the pacing is right, and also to do trivial little things like, you know, have it beta read. But there probably won't be time.
But I'm the one who wanted to write an epic for a one-month contest, so I guess the tight schedule is on me.
I'm really enjoying being back to fanfic, tho. I haven't written a fanfic I gave a shit about all year.
No. Wait. I put up The Miner's Cavern on ao3, and that's special to me, but I can't link to that here. Why not? Because the Miner in it very clearly lives in a shack, not a cavern. What could the title be refering to then?
But. I give a shit about the Blueblood thing! I've been so busy writing original novels that I forgot how nice it is to write something I know at least a few people will read! Fanfic is the best. And the new outlining techniques I've used on Blueblood have worked wonderfully. I'd love to do a longer fanfic project with them; either one of my unfinished works, or something new. I have a history of longer stories/novels getting away from me, and doing detailed outlines seems to help prevent that.
Anyway. Hoping to have Blueblood up on Wednesday, in whatever shape its in at the time. Get it up when people will see it, and give FoME's judges time to actually read it before the deadline. Hooves crossed.
You just have to have it in by the deadline. The rest is on us. Still, glad to hear you're both making progress and enthusiastic about the project.

So enthusiastic. Thank you! Honestly, I've been kind of depressed about the end of the show all year. This contest is, in fact, serving its purpose of easing me back into writing fanfic for something I love. So thanks!
