Timeline: The Show vs My Story · 7:13am Oct 21st, 2019
Hello everyone. So there have been a few questions about how my timeline matches up with that of the tv show. Also I think this is important to clarify for my own benefit just as much as yours. Also, even though this will go into the timeline for things there will be no spoilers include in this blog so this is safe for everyone to read.

So for the timeline, here's the thing... Season 8 technically spans over the course of two and a half years in pony time. It starts approx in mid summer or early spring.
Coincidentally when I first started writing this story it was in June. So the baseline is that my story, as well as season 8, both begin roughly around that time of the year.
I coincided S8 E7 Horse Play (My Ch 65) with the summer sun celebration for this year which marks the longest day of summer. Episodes 8 & 9 take place during that same summer but now my story will start transitioning into Autumn as the days get shorter.
But the thing is, episode 10 is Hearts and Hooves Day which relates to Valentine's Day in February. This means the show skipped over the entire season of Autumn and Winter. So I have the freedom to do anything I want with those seasons in my story. The Galla, Hearthswarming Eve, all of it. But this also means my story will not pick back up to the show until after my winter chapters are over and we reach Hearts and Hooves Day during the following year.
Now episodes 11-14 could take place anytime during that Spring/Summer. But then the show skips Autumn again and goes straight to another Hearths Warming Eve special on episode 15. That means if we assume Season 8 started in June, it's now been a year and a half from S8 E1.
After that, there are no seasonal markers going all the way to chapter 26 at the end of the season. But, there is one more development. A bonus episode was released between season 8 and season 9 which was another Hearths Warming Eve episode. That means before season nine begins, it has been two and a half years since the start of season 8.
I know that MANY of you have been anxiously waiting to see how my main character will interact with Grogar. But you will have to wait for my story to finish resolving these two and a half years first before that becomes a possibility. And even then, it likely won't be until the end of season nine for them to finally meet.
Now my story is intended to proceed beyond the end of the show. It does have an eventual ending and I already know what it is. But we have a long way to get there. In the meantime my story will have to span these time gaps while filling in the emptiness with it's own content. I will keep events in my story as close to the show as possible but there will be certain points where I deviate to keep this story my own.
