[NEW FIC] Back to writing ponies! (...sorta)

tl;dr - I put ponies in another fic, but only for a few chapters

So, real quick, minor confession...this fic is actually one of my oldest, and it's not on this site.

Hey, easy, easy, let me explain.

[UPDATE] It's like being nibbled to death by cats

This chapter is a straight up continuation of the previous chapter, and there's literally zero time skip, unlike most of my chapters in this fic. So much so, in fact, that what had originally been two separate chapters (Gilda fights Sunset, sleepover happens) had to be combined into one because the "Gilda fights Sunset" chapter was going to be too long. It was during the

[UPDATE] Yes, you saw that right, new chapter

Not much to say about this one that the notes at the bottom of the chapter itself don't already say. Obviously, my health is much better and my sleep is improving to the point where I'm not having to take medication for it nearly as often. Work is going pretty good (I'll post about that at some point, it deserves its own post) and I've gotten HYPER into The Lost Tomb, which if you haven't read it

[UPDATE] When you get medical confirmation...

So I've said in my rather sporadic updates that I've been going through a lot, and I believe I've mentioned that the things that have been happening have been rather more draining on the ol' spoons than I otherwise expected.

    [UPDATE] Egad, some activity?!

Yes! I am still plugging away at [REDACTED], it's just somewhat slow going due to life reasons. I'm starting to accept that I'm just never going to be as outlandishly productive as WandererD or n7punk, and I'm working on being okay with that.

[THE LIST] ...wait, do we EVER find out where the sandwich came from?! · 3:36pm Oct 3rd, 2019

This list is not about my favorite stories of all time. That's my favorites list and one of these days I may get around to writing reviews of those fics.

The List is about stand-out, in-progress works that deserve more love, for whatever reason. In addition to general reviews of the fics, these blog posts will tell why I picked a particular story and highlight any features the reader should look out for. Spoilers will be appropriately marked, so you'll be able to read my reviews with confidence that you'll be able to read the story itself and experience the same surprise and delight I did when I first found it.

Also, authors and fans of works will be able to submit stories. Your particular selection may not make it onto the list, and the more information you give me for why you think it should be featured, the more likely I'll be to read and post it. To submit a fiction, simply PM me through FiMFiction's link on my profile.

The list can be found here: Princess Columbia's List

Premise
Twilight Sparkle eats sandwiches. So do many other ponies. The question is; why? The historical first sandwich ever made on this earth was created at the request of the Earl of Sandwich to make it so he could play cards without getting meat grease all over his playing cards. So why would ponies invent the sandwich? Earth ponies would just eat out of a bowl and never touch the food with their hooves, which are busy with cards. Pegasii have a whole 'nother set of limbs to use while their playing cards and unicorns would just use their magic. So who invented the sandwich?

This question is all it takes to nearly completely alter the course of history for Equestria, and naturally, a mischievous eldritch entity who just wants to have fun prods a bored time traveler to ask that very question.

Princess Columbia's Synopsis
That thing I pointed out in the premise? Yeah, it's kinda the entire catalyst for EVERYTHING going off the rails. From Spike using accelerated Greed Growth to protect ponies to Lyra becoming Equestria's first Magical Girl Filly, this story starts in S01 and diverges in all the right ways while still keeping several plot points from canon.

Why am I highlighting this fic?
This is probably the first "think piece" I'm including on the List, mostly because by the time I finish reading most of the more thought-provoking stories on FiMFiction, the author has finished them already. This one is an ongoing work, however, and requires you to think laterally about nearly everything you think you know, not just about this show, but about everything.

What makes this fic particularly good?
I keep coming back to this, but this fic makes you think, and it presents the questions that spur the thinking in a way that totally rabit-holes your mind as to the possibilities of what can be done, even with a heavily tapped source such as MLP:FiM.

Who would like this fic?
Fans of da' EPIC'Z!!!

Does the author monetize?2
No, be sure to drop them a line to encourage them to become a filthy, filthy capitalist. :raritywink:

  1. Endorsement on Princess Columbia's List is an endorsement of the selected work of fiction only and is not intended to endorse the creator of the work in any other way.
  2. Why highlight whether the author monetizes their work? By providing remuneration to the author, you often get the opportunity to request certain works be given higher priority. Additionally, when a person is able to get paid for their passion on their terms, it can often allow them to cut out things that otherwise distract from said passion, like a day job. I was going to point out that Oliver already has a real job, but then I remembered that academia isn't a real job. (I may be remembering GhostOfHeraclitus instead, but I use disclaimers to prevent the facts from getting in the way of a good line)
