How does it happen? A total and emphatic dispassion for the material they are presented with which they are thereafter tasked with continuing.
Without getting into spoilers, in the season 9 finale there's this big plot point that completely contradicts something established earlier in the show, and it honestly ruined the whole thing for me. If that wasn't evidence that the new writers don't watch the show, I don't know what is.
