My Thoughts on "For Whom She Sparkles" · 2:51pm Sep 11th, 2019
Morning, everyone! My update is just a tad later than I wanted it to be this week. I got a little carried away writing. But anyway, things are progressing nicely. Tuesday morning, I completed the rough draft for chapter 8 of "For Whom She Sparkles" and while working on that one, I also started outlining the next few chapters.
I have to say, I never dreamed it would grow into what it has become. Originally it was just going to be a one-shot. Chapter 1 was originally all I was planning. Then I got the idea to add the second part and figured that was enough, but by that point readers and fans of Twilight were really enjoying it and wanted more. So, I was thrilled and I made more. Now I didn't know exactly where I wanted to take the story and in some ways I still don't know. But after the first two chapters were up and doing so well and readers were requesting more, I thought, why don't I just make this a "Your Life with Twilight" type story. With that topic in mind alone it opened so many worlds of possibility.
Now, I'm sure many of you that have read through the seven existing chapters have seen that I have slowly been working the plot towards "Winter Wrap Up Day". After getting the protagonist (you) together with Twilight, I started thinking where should this story go? Well, many of us bronies enjoyed "Winter Wrap Up" and how Twilight found her place. So it got me to thinking, I'd love to know what it would be like to help Twilight wrap up winter. So, that's why I started working the story in that direction. Now, it hasn't been a rapid journey there. I wanted to move through Hearts and Hooves Day and build the relationship between the protagonist and Twilight, so that's where the other chapters came in. The various activities with Twilight were those I thought would be fun and suspected and hoped many or you would enjoy. I even decided to spice things up by having Daisy make an appearance, since it was established that she was the protagonist's ex, I figured how about a little friction? Many of my readers have suggested I experiment more with conflict and in growing as a writer, I've learned a story is so much more with conflict. It makes your characters more relatable. I also thought following the protagonist to his job would be equally interesting and add some more depth as well as other relationships the character has.
Oh and fun little bit of trivia. I've had several readers ask me if "She Will Always Be Your Twilight" has anything to do with "For Whom She Sparkles". There's no easy answer here. Like many fans of "Friendship Is Magic". I went through a series of thoughts once Twilight ascended. At first I didn't care for it, but then I saw a wide array of art showing what Twilight thought of her change and I considered her feelings on the matter. Wings or no wings, I couldn't stand the thought of turning my back of her. So, that's why I wrote that story, only I decided to capture the essence of "For Whom She Sparkles". I figured, "Why not?" When I came up with "She Will Always Be Your Twilight" I planned it to be second person, so I decided to make it have a similar feel, just in case I ever decided to link the two stories. So, currently the two are not linked, but that's not to say that they might not later on down the line. Who's to say. But for right now, "She Will Always Be Your Twilight" is stand alone.
I just thought some of you might enjoy my thoughts on one of my popular stories. For now, I'm going to get back to writing before I get some sleep. I can hardly wait to start work on chapter 9 of "For Whom She Sparkles". But, before I go, if any of you would care to share a favorite part of the story so far, I'd love to hear them. If you asked my favorite part right now. It would be a toss up between the scene in Twilight's Room in chapter 1 or pretty much all of the events of chapter 7.
Oh and Twilight is thankfully for all of your support!
Thank you, everypony!!
Have a great day and stay awesome!
