My Little Pony Season 9 News 09/06/2019 · 11:23am Sep 6th, 2019

Boy has our little guy grown over the years.

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the final season of MLP! In case the image itself hasn't given it away, our next episode set to air tomorrow is indeed a 'Spike' episode, but not just 'any' Spike episode mind you. But rather it's an episode that's been part of this recurring theme throughout the entire series, one of which has inspired a passionate fan-base of a rather peculiar season. Since the very first episode when the show began, the story itself consisted of Spike's incurable crush of Ponyville's favorite fashionista: Rarity.

Yes, darling?

Uh no, no, no... I meant to say... Uh... MOVING ON! *Clears throat*

As we know, out of all the ponies Spike has ever known throughout his entire life (Aside from his honorary sister, Twilight Sparkle), Spike has spent numerous amount of times pining to the needs of Rarity. Some would say that Rarity just treats Spike like a servant attending to her fashion needs, some say Spike is just a lovesick puppy who deserves someone better or at least someone who notices his infatuation (One show 'literally' made the whole 'puppy love' deal clear). And yet for all of Spike's efforts to be more than just Rarity's friend, even coming close to confessing his feelings when they were on the verge of death, either Rarity is fully aware of Spike's feelings yet thinks he's okay with them just being friends or maybe she always believed Spike was more like the little brother she never had, even though her behavior makes her come off as cruel for letting Spike carry on. With this season representing a sign of closure for 'most' of the major story arcs that have taken place throughout the series, we're about to see where this goes by pitting the two in a situation that serves as a test as to whether the fans were right that the whole 'Sparity' deal is legit or maybe it's time for them to both grow up and start a new ship. That is what the subject of tomorrow's episode goes over as we prepare to bear witness to:

Dragon Dropped

Now I know this episode was released early, but once more we humbly make this request to our fellow readers:

NO SPOILERS!!!

Thank you, Rarity.

You're welcome, darling.

With a title as a play on the words 'Drag and Drop' (With the extra 'ed'), the story concerns Rarity who starts to feel she's done something wrong when Spike suddenly stops making time for her. By relying solely on this synopsis alone, automatically this begs the question as to where the status of Spike & Rarity's relationship lies and whether or not this whole ship was ever worth it. But it seems in this case, it comes to a point where Rarity starts to wonder if she's been taking Spike for granted all the years or for the matter Spike has matured so much in recent seasons that he's decided to put away all childish things like his 'crush'. Yet when we take this into consideration, Spike has always stood up for Rarity and cheered her on when she's down, he's always expressed how he felt about her work (But mostly her) from the bottom of his heart, and while he knows Rarity has had rotten luck with other stallions he insists there's a guy who would treat her right when we all know he was talking about himself. It seems even after all the obvious signs that Spike loves Rarity and considering that it's suddenly dawned on him that she's just not that into him, perhaps it's at this point of the series when he's decided 'enough is enough' and decides to see other ponies.

Then again, who's to say it's another pony much less another 'woman' even though we have seen Spike hang out with Mane Six members like Applejack and even honorary member Starlight Glimmer (When he's not managing Twilight's 'twilighting' issues). We know that Spike occasionally has his 'guys night' with Big Mac and Discord demonstrating he's more than just the boy following girls or reading comics by himself. And considering the more time he's spent with other dragons like Ember or Smolder, considering for the matter that the latter is 'slightly' close to his age (Albeit clearly 'older' than the baby dragon), most of us would think it be best if he fell for someone relatively close to his species. But then that would be wrong to say on my part, as if to say it's impossible for a Dragon to ever fall in love with a pony (Believe me, I've seen TONS of fan-work where they insist that such a thing is possible). Yet when we need to consider Spike's future in the long run, how long can he hold on to a crush on some pony who doesn't show her feelings in return?

That's where it all leads up to Rarity, as she herself starts to feel that maybe Spike is truly moving on because it's her fault. While she might not know the full story at this point, while we've known she can be overly dramatic over the simplest little things, Rarity does care for Spike's well being and even though she may not share the same feelings as Spike she acknowledges that he's always around to help when she and her friends need him. Now I've seen other shows do this story before and I would see the great lengths characters in Rarity's position would go to win back all the attention that was initially unrequited, yet does Rarity want Spike to have a crush on her again or is she just insecure that suddenly she's not getting all the attention she's used to? It's true that women go through this issue so many times over the years, some may not actually miss the 'guy' essentially but rather they either miss the 'relationship', the 'attention', or simply put they just miss all the things they 'do', not 'who' they are (To be fair, even men have this problem too even if we're more 'macho' about it). Whatever Rarity might do may come off as selfish trying to win Spike back from whatever is drawing his line of vision away from hers, so whereas most episodes it's Spike who is eating crow and must learn a lesson perhaps this episode may offer a sort've moral on Rarity's part that audiences can relate to.

But the big question remains: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.
