I had the idea for a while to have fun about how Twilight Sparkle got shut down by Starlight Glimmer in the Season five premiere, when Starlight yelled "QUIET!!" when Twilight was about to give another friendship speech. I did a different but similar story already (You Wanted To Use a Spell?!) where Starlight laid into Twilight for wanting to use spells in the "Yakity-Sax" episode, so I thought it was time to flip the roles and have Twilight lay into Starlight in a story.
Now, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I will. When I started the story, it actually slipped my mind that Twilight and the Mane Six got their Cutie Marks after the "QUIET!!" moment, so I originally had Twilight lay into Starlight as soon as she got shut down. Obviously, once I remembered, editing had to be done, and the scene got moved to the mountains.
This actually didn't change things too much, but one big change was when Starlight tried to escape Twilight. Since they were originally still in "Our Town", the scene had Starlight try to escape to the mountains, but got cut off by Twilight, who teleported in front of her. Twilight then proceeded to literally drag Starlight back to the exact spot they were in before the escape. Twilight then moved ponies that moved when Starlight tried to get away, and even some rocks, back to their exact position; Twilight's a perfectionist, and wanted everything exactly how it was before she resumed laying into Starlight. Instead, it was changed to Starlight trying to escape into the cave behind her. Since she was already near it, I just had Twilight grab Starlight with her magic and sat her back to where she was. This scene was about 100 or so words less than the "original" so it slightly shortened the story.
More changes were near the end. First, Twilight originally gave Starlight "The Treatment" for two years, not just two months. Second, the Mane Five actually brought Tirek to Twilight's castle to try to get Twilight to let Starlight go, but Twilight threatened to give him "The Treatment" if he didn't lay off. She didn't have to repeat herself. I even had Twilight be more powerful than Celestia and Luna, and she threatened to cast a spell on Discord that would make him hear her voice in his head non-stop, and even he wouldn't be able to reverse it, and would be why those three didn't do anything.
But I felt all that was overkill, even for this silly story. So, I took out the Tirek, Discord, and Royal Sisters part, and also changed it so Starlight got "The Treatment" for two months, then was made Twilight's student. Starlight still being made Twilight student was also something that didn't happen originally. The changes with Starlight still being Twilight's student and shortening her "sentence" also opens the door for a sequel to this story, if I decide to make one.
Honestly, I don’t think anyone would mind a sequel
