My Little Pony Season 9 News 08/23/2019 Part 1 · 11:28am Aug 23rd, 2019

Celestia: Can you believe this could be among our last episodes together?
Luna: I can't believe it's taken Drama so long to get his reviews up.

OH, COME ON!!!

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the final season of MLP! Again, I want to apologize for this unnecessary delay with my reviews and while I can name many excuses as to why they are beyond tardy (Writer's block, needing further examination on the episodes, computer problems, etc.) the fact is my reviews will be out when the time is right. Still and all, I know we've got a huge season of material to cover as there are several episodes remaining before the big end. Speaking of 'the end', note that this is 'Part One' of my blog for this week as I will be covering something extra before the day is over.

So now faithful readers, with no further ado, let's dive right into the episode titled:

The Summer Sun Setback

Now I know the episode was released in China a while ago, but for the sake of those who didn't see the episode yet:

NO SPOILERS!!!

Thank you, Rarity.

You're welcome, darling.

As far as this episode is concerned, with Princess Celestia and Princess Luna set to retire this year's Summer Sun Celebration will ultimately be their final event. So Twilight Sparkle, being the pony obsessed with wanting things to be just right, is determined to make this the most memorable celebration in Equestrian history but as we can expect with stories like this things start going horribly wrong. Right off the bat, fans are already assuming that this episode is very reminiscent of that Applejack episode when she tried so hard to make her family reunion just as memorable knowing that her whole family might not make the next gathering and we all know how that turned out (Especially with the Fruit Bats). And as of late, Twilight's 'twilighting' episodes as we call them have started to become a bit of an annoyance to several fans especially to those who are actual fans of her character and to this day the fanbase is questioning whether Twilight is truly the pony who should take charge of Equestria considering some questionable decisions as of late. I get that this is all part of her character and she's meant to be flawed, but as far as how I've seen her act in the 'last episode', which I will only say was 'slightly' better than the cheerleading story, she acts more like Season 1-Season 2 Twilight especially with the way she treats some of her friends (Mainly Pinkie).

And yet... And yet I get where Twilight is going with this. The Summer Sun Celebration for the ponies is more than just a representation of the summer solstice. At one point, it was to symbolize the 'defeat' of Nightmare Moon, Luna's corrupted persona, whom Celestia defeated and banished to the moon and Celestia's raising the sun ultimately represents restoring the light to a world nearly shadowed by darkness. But some years later, it was decided that the Celebration is best represented as the 'return' of her sister, Princess Luna, and thus they've taken part in the celebration together. Now that the princesses are declaring that they wish to retire and hand over the control of the land to Twilight, again this is one of the most moments where the pressure of meeting with the standards of what Twilight thinks the princesses wants has been her downfall for many episodes. Up till now, Twilight Sparkle has always tried to rule and do things the way the princesses would much like Simba tries so hard to be like his father, but what we really need to remind ourselves is that both characters I mentioned are supposed to represent the new generation and thus need to be reminded that what everyone wants is a ruler who handles the land their 'own' way.

But still that just leaves one question: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my blog later this morning.
