Okay so from ch 31 to 67, I know it has been a very long time since I have written one of these. But I've been asked several times now about where Rayne's power level has grown to so I figured this would be a good chapter to clarify it. Unfortunately it's not so easily answered.
Disclaimer: This is all opinion based for how I see things. But seeing as it's my story, this is how things will be in this story.
So to start with: Sombra's power would make Rayne stronger than Cadence, Luna, or Celestia (by themselves). I'm not even going to touch on how powerful Twilight is or is not here. But Sombra was about the power level of an alicorn and a half. Furthermore, Radiant Hope was supposed to be the next alicorn princess under Celestia back in her day. So I'd put her and Starlight as at least as powerful as each other.
Now at this point Rayne has the power of half the elements of harmony. He's gotten Applejack's, Pinkie's and Rainbow Dash's abilities. So with the exception of the other three, it can be assumed that he has copied the magic of every pony in Ponyville. Adding on that he just sweeped through Dodge City, Appleloosa, Rainbow Falls and Cloudsdale. Over all that totals to Rayne having the magic of about 40% of Equestria.
Now I say that considering that Canterlot, Manehattan, Philidelphia, Baltimare, Las Pegasus, and the Crystal Empire have much larger populations. But Rayne has basically copied all the magic in Equestria outside of these four large cities. Now as for the creatures of Equestria he has been even more successful.
There are still many places that Rayne can go to hunt the magic of wild beasts in. These places will be addressed after not too long but if you thought there isn't anything else for Rayne to search for then you are very wrong.
Now where does all of this power put him? How does he rank up? Well there is a very big difference between "having power" and "having experience." Could Rayne out-blast Celestia? Definitely. Could Celestia in all her vast knowledge out-spell Rayne? Without a doubt. Rayne has the knowledge of being a human and knowing all the spells in all the movies and in all of the video games that Celestia could never imagine. But Celestia knows the all of the spells of this world and all of the local magics that Rayne does not. So no matter how strong Rayne becomes, Celestia and him could always surprise each other.
For raw power level though, at this point Discord is the only character in the show who is still stronger than Rayne. But it is now very, very close. (I am not counting Grogar because we haven't seen his true power level yet). The other issue to look at though is that "power" all depends on how it is used.
So one thing that makes Rayne different is that he has his Umbran creatures. These are beings that have never existed before. And he has an army of them that is ever growing. So being in a fight with Rayne (a real fight) is to face all of his magic, power, abilities, human otherworldly knowledge, AND an army of reforming shadow creatures that can change shape.
So how strong is Rayne? That depends on if you angered him or not? Haha.
