Ask X · 4:24am Jul 27th, 2019

I forgot to answer the Ask X from today's chapter of Harry Potter and the Crystal Empire. This means, by my completely arbitrary and contrived rules that I made up, that I will answer all questions posted in the next chapter. Head on over to the current latest chapter and get posting!

As always, I'll worm and wheedle my way around spoiling anything. :pinkiecrazy:

Professor McGonagall (Or Dumbledore) [Or the author]: While the castle can't be for sure be in the category of being under the Crystal Empire, by law, before the castle was transported to the other world... Who was the owner of the castle?

"A very good question, but one that is even further tangled than you thought." Gemma Farley put on a hat that read Author's Proxy. "You see, the very ground it was built on was, in theory, owned by the crystal ponies and their ruler. That presents two interesting solutions given the current knowledge. We are the crystal ponies, so we own the ground, but Princess Cadance is an absolute monarch, meaning she can happily confiscate lands on her own say-so.

"And we're not even taking into account the fact we are, in some way, trespassing on Equestrian land. It's all fascinating from a law point of view, but ultimately, since she is the monarch, her word stands. If you reread the section where we had our little revelation, I went very quiet when I realized all these implications. Before, we had some measure of protection as refugees, but now things are a lot more skewed in Princess Cadance's favor." Gemma's mouth pulled into a slight tilt. "I'm still not sure what to think on that. I'll have to ponder it."
