    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Godzilla thoughts and remarks for possible future kaiju stories. · 3:17pm Jul 20th, 2019

So, we have our first official news on the plot for Godzilla VS Kong. And a released date, March 13, 2020. From Wikipedia:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

— Legendary and Warner Bros

...Welp, we are so screwed. ...Okay.
This'll work out splendidly for humanity. Us planning to wipe out both of them. Let me remind you of the King's role in the world eh? He keeps the other Titans in check from destroying the planet. Now what might you imagine might happen if he was gone? Oh yes, we all die horribly and Ghidorah isn't even responsible. This time, we are.

...You know, even if Charles Dance isn't in this movie, I'm beginning to wonder if he may had a point. Human nature only does get uglier. Now I can sorta understand some of the responses due to Boston getting leveled but have we learned nothing? I mean, this is Godzilla VS Megagirius levels of catastrophic stupidity.

Personally, I think someone like Mark should come in, point out the stupidity of this whole plan and then say: "You know what, you want to kill yourselves, that's fine by me. I'm outta here. Y'all deserve everything that's coming to you."

We know his character along with Maddie is confirmed for this movie. Mark said it himself, don't take him on unless this is a fight you're sure you could win. And on that, how the hell are we supposed to beat him? Someone on the Bridge suggested kicking him while he's down in a sense, shooting him with another Destroyer after he's weakened but I'm skeptical. At best. the Destroyer might put him down for only a few years.

...Maybe that spare King Ghidorah head will come into use again? I mean, Mecha King Ghidorah could be a thing again. I mean, combine a mecha with a Destroyer, who the military is fully aware of potential wise now and you've got something horrifying in scope.

But let's get down to important matters. Who will YOU side with? Godzilla, or Kong?

Personally, even if Kong will be at his full size this time around and possibly have lightning powers, he's still a big ape against a millennia-old lizard who can breathe atomic fire. Kong's going to get wrecked.

Now, onto the second piece of business. Rebirth of the Queen did... amazingly well actually. Maybe it was down to the timing of the release, but I suspect Mothra's popularity played a role as well. So, it got me thinking. What about a possible sequel, and who would it be about? I thought involving SpaceGodzilla if not renamed -C'mon, don't pretend Toho was being imaginative there!- was an idea, but there would be no setup to his creation. So that leaves other possibilities. One strikes me as very interesting.

Yes, the one born of fire himself, Rodan. I mean, c'mon. After KoTM made him credible as a monster again, this is a fun idea. It was suggested to me to mix his Showa and 2019 incarnations. Namely, start off with his 2019 personality, but with the mate of the original incarnation and slowly grow into the Lord of the Skies Godzilla was all too happy to partner up with.

Now, villains... Several ideas come to mind. Battra Leo recognizing two Rodans are too dangerous for the world, so he kills one and sends Rodan on a rampage, but a greater threat shows himself. Maybe Zilla, this one a divergent species of the King with atomic breath, maybe the Megagirius and her children or maybe something more nightmarish.

Yes, you'd finally have your Ghidorah, in a sense. Maybe have Rodan and Battra Leo put aside their differences and take down the hydra. Who's to say? I want your thoughts here, on any and all of this.

Hmm Maybe Rodan first and then kijng of the monsters story after you do a monster zero story.. Of how he ended up on ice if you wished.

I have an idea that you might like, how about an old unused monster?

Please, if it's someone like Varan... No. But do tell.

I can just feel SpaceGodzilla being the final enemy in the Monsterverse.

5091703
It's not that easy really. Toho loves the MonsterVerse yes, but they have to give explicit written permission for a kaiju to be used, which is why we've only had the big four. Plus, after KoTM just barely making even -even if it's upcoming DVD might fix that- everything rests on this movie. Godzilla VS Kong must do well.

5091705
True. It would be interesting to see Kaiju like Destoroyah also. If the Monsterverse does well.

I think as noted below me, Destoroyah would be a good villain to bring in. I think at this point Battra Leo needs to be off to the side as if he where to kill the second Rodan it would make him the villain outright and Mothra and Godzilla may understand why he did it but not like that he did it.

You could have the world slowly starting to question the Monsters more because of attacks by some of the lesser monsters that Godzilla and Mothra have stopped. Gabara would be a good monster in this case. Or have Gigan show up and start attacking and he tries to awaken the Golden One.

Or you could do a Kong story more like the original movie where some very stupid creatures, possibly influenced by Chrysalis, bring Kong to a major city to show him off and he goes on the rampage.

Edit

How about Kong vs Gigan? PM if you would like to hear my idea.

Fair point. Plus, he did sorta steal the spotlight from Mothra a bit in Manehatten.

Gigan... hmmm, yes, that's a possibility. Gabara though... No. Just no. I try not to associate anything at all with Minya in my mind.

I like the idea, but Kong's story has been done to death by this point. It's telling Skull Island did something completely new with him, this time around. Seriously, after Peter Jackson's telling what can you do? Though do PM me.

Ooh, I like that idea.

I also like the idea of Megaguirus and her Meganula swarm being the antagonists. Given that the Meganulon/Meganura first made their debut with Rodan, it would be cool to play up the ancient rivalry aspect between the two species.

And I'm Team Godzilla all the way. Always been, always will be.

Try... Bagan, he is the end all be all monster, he has both the DNA of Godzilla and Ghidorah.

If you look closely at one of the newspaper clippings in the end credits, there's a brief blurb about "anti-titan activists" or something like that.

Gabara though... No. Just no.

How about this? How about Gabara does show up...as a political cartoon, a general satire of the kaiju in general?

Side with Godzilla or Kong? Never liked Kong so I always stay loyal to my King.

Who do I side with?

Godzilla, all the way!

I'm mean, Godzilla fought against and defeated Ghidorah (with a little help but still). And no matter how big he gets, or whatever powers they decide to give him, Kong is still just a giant ape, not a three-headed space dragon.
