...and writing. I just have nothing to publish yet.
I've thrown down a few ideas for a sequel to The Woman, but nothing that really excites me.
Catch Me is still idling... I started another editing pass to clean up the existing chapters a bit, but then I had a few bright-and-shiny visions for sequences in An Honest Man and I've been plugging away on that ever since. I've "finished" re-writing chapter one but it's hard going, because it is all about the male lead, Percy, and really has to nail his personality and role... something that's still a bit nebulous to me.
So it's meant a lot of writing his character interactions... realizing that they aren't quite right and re-writing... then another re-write... etc. I like how it's turning out but I'm struggling with boredom, having gone over the same material over and over and over again.
One thing that's really helped is I created a visual layout with "Percy" on one side and "Pearl" on the other (she's the female lead, a pony of course), and then I started throwing down words that describe them. What they look like, what they enjoy, what they hate, their history, etc. and linking together the things they have in common or that could provide sparks of love/hate. It's helped immensely with redefining them and their relationship into something that, hopefully, will be appealing to read about.
And then there's this other story I've been tinkering with -- a RariTwi (sort of) 'horroromance'. Oy. Just what I need; another story to work on.
Or I might switch gears and try to finish my silly comedy, You Are Here, since it's 2/3rds written and it would be nice to have another story to publish.
Not much else is new: Work is freaking bonkers, as always! I've more-or-less been thrust into the role of Lead Admin & SME of a mid-sized financial institution's email server at a time when we're transitioning from an old kludgy email service to a new even-more-kludgy service. I have to train on the new system, research how the new functionality affects our processes, and make decisions that will affect all of our international marketing campaigns.
Yipe!
It's kind of interesting and possibly even fun, aside from the meetings. One-on-one I can stumble through a conversation, but hosting presentations to the whole blintzing marketing team?!
I'm so looking forward to putting all that behind me for a couple of weeks and going to Bronycon during my vacay. It's been a looong time since I went to a con... largely because I dislike them, but, hey it's the last Bronycon so I figure shrug what the heck. I've never been to Baltimore, so if I get tired of the con I'm sure there are other touristy things I can enjoy.
Well... back to work. Hopefully, I'll have something to share soon.
