    300 views in three days!

I’m no longer very active on social media, so it’s been a while since I felt the giddy rush of affirmation! :rainbowkiss: But since I posted my most recent story it has gotten over three hundred reads in under three days and a whole lot of comments. So color me dopamine and serotonin flush!

Another year, another story (part deux)

I’m finally finding some more time to write. I was inspired to finish writing this story by Bicyclette’s Sci-fi Contest III, but missed the deadline by 40 minutes (as they say, read the fine print!)

By the way, I began writing this story almost a year ago based on some real life events that many of us share ever since COVID changed how the world meets. I hope you enjoy it!

    Another year, another story

It’s probably not the best thing that I need the motivation of a group activity (Jinglemass) and a multiple-day-off holiday to get me writing again. But this is where I am, and that’s how it is. I Hope you’ve all had a great holiday season so far, and best wishes for a safe, healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

I know it's petty. I know I've said that I'm writing for my own satisfaction, and not for popularity, fame or fortune. But finally one of my stories has surpassed the 1000 reader mark, and I have to admit: it feels good! Real good!

The story in question is actually the first that I started writing (but not the first that I finished): The Good of the Many.

I'm very proud of that story, beyond the emotional impact of it being my first born, so to speak. It was my first major attempt at world building and adding onto the MLP canon in order to provide a logical framework explaining both the current state of Equestrian society - including its government - and why so much of Equestrian science, arts, engineering, artifacts, etc are clearly "borrowed from humanity". (Yes, I know, MLP:FIM is a show created by humans for humans, and uses human culture because it is much more accessible and easier to write, draw and animate than if they had to start the universe from scratch. But that shouldn't stop anyone from trying to make it plausible, least of all me!)

In it I also try to explore the magic of science and the science of magic, bringing them together into a common framework. I am exploring this theme much more deeply in my currently running story Renaissance Pony.

One last note. I have been asked by some why a person who writes stories that celebrate human thought, science, ingenuity and culture the way I do would also write stories in the Conversion Bureau universe. Simply put: I think the TCB universe has for the most part unfairly gotten a bad rap. It is possible to write TCB stories in which humans are heroes and admired for being such, where Celestia and Luna are not invading monsters, and where humans and equestrians together are facing what can only be described as a tragedy of global proportions. But then, tragedy is the crucible of both character and drama, and so I have used the TCB universe for the powerful setting it is, in order to tell stories at the same time tragic and triumphant.

So, back to the issue of the day: 1000 views! Thanks to all the readers and other authors out there, and especially to those who have taken the time to comment and help me in developing my writing skills, such as they are.

And yeah, it feels good! Real good!

*clinches hand, tries not to yell.* You hit it on the head on why TCB get a bad rap, humans and ponies being bastards, Celestia a monster (is there one that even has Luna supporting her?), and so on. The reason I will not read them. Granted I like 'For the Good of the Many" and look forward to a sequel, but I still won't read you TCB fic. There are TCB fics, or TCE-esque, that don't fall to bastardizations of humanity or ponyanity, I can count the ones I've faved on one hand.

*takes a breath* Sorry about the rant but TCB rubs me the wrong way. Take a look at my name you can guess why. Still congrat of the record, "For the Good of the Many" is a damn fine story, and deserves it.

Congratulations!
You probably know this already: You earned that.
