Birthday Plea: a Friend in Need · 5:41pm Jun 5th, 2019

Today's the day! I've turned twenty-eight. Some of you, sweet as you are, have asked me what I want for my birthday. There's only one thing I want: to fly a dear friend of mine, someone I consider a sister, across the United States and away from an abusive situation to live with me and my family for a while. First, though, I think I owe you some pleasantries at the very least.

Hey, everyone! It's been a while. I've been good. I'm legally married now, as of the thirteenth of May, to the woman I've loved since before I'd even joined Fimfiction and broken a few hearts. Now that the kiddo is on summer vacation, we're moving; not far, just into the city, but that is a huge step as far as opportunities and our lifestyles are concerned. The Victory Garden—that support server I mentioned in September and the reason I have been too distracted to hop onto Fimfiction, haha—has truly become a family and I couldn't be prouder.

What about you? How's college? Are you eating well? What of your hopes, your dreams?

Alright. I don't want to get into too many details, since the details are not mine to share, but... It took a year and a half or so of abuse for her to open up to us and come to terms with what was going on. She needs to get to safety. The Garden has been just amazing so far, and together we've been able to do wonderful things. The wife and kiddo and I have opened our doors to her; we have a spare room in our new home and we're more than happy to give her the emotional support she needs in order to get back on her feet.

Thing is, we're getting a little strapped. Our new lease wasn't finalized until we were already forced into paying an extra month of rent at our old place. While that means we have an easy month to get all the moving done, it also means that we're getting in a little deep. We've spent more money in the last few weeks than I could believe, some of which we did not expect and were not prepared for.

We can feed one more mouth once she gets here, I'm sure. The trick is scrounging up the, what, USD$400 to get her and a few belongings across the country. We're a quarter of the way there. I'll bankrupt myself to get her safe if I have to; if you'd like to donate, though, I'd be extremely grateful. I'll also be happy to get to work if anyone wants to commission a little something. All of my writing lately has been focused on a big original project that's more mahou shoujo than MLP, but I can sneak in some short stories if you'd like. There are so few exceptions to what I'd write and host on my profile if it means getting her home safe. Just shoot me a message.

I'm not used to asking for favors. I'm supposed to be the one that helps people, not the one who needs help. I suppose I'm a little on both sides in this case, though, aren't I?

Thanks for reading, and for sparing what little we can. You've done so much for me already—all of Fimfiction has. You gave me support when I was first starting to write. You gave me an identity, and the perspective to see myself through new and clearer eyes and believe that maybe I have some worth after all; in fact, Adda will soon be my legal name, when finances settle and I find a few hundred dollars more to spare. What's more, you gave me an adventure that I'm proud to call my life's story. I may not have the time or attention span to be around Fimfiction anymore, but you'll always be so very important to me.

She's important to me too. I'm sorry to share the burden around but, if ever I had a reason worthy of asking the favor, she's the worthiest. She's such a good woman. I'll do whatever it takes.
