Oh hey, an Applejack episode!
... not a Rarijack episode, but hey. As the Stones once said, you can't always get what you want.
But yeah. Apple harvest whatnots, and also SANTA CLAUS ISN'T REAL. Which ... well, kind of a heady thing to make an episode about, but still. I was kinda hoping we'd get a little more Roadrunner-esque in the elaborate-ness of the Deer-Traps, but I guess they wanted to focus on little things like "character" instead of watching Applebloom and/or Applejack fall into holes and have boulders fall on them for ten minutes straight.
All and all, it was a solid enough episode ... though with this being the last season and all, I can't help but find myself wanting a little more. Like, this last season's gotta count, right? So I wanna see 'em go all out with the madcap craziness. Which they've kinda done already, between the villains and the 'let's let the voice actors be producers!' episode, but still! I at least have confidence the finale will rock my proverbial socks off-- or at least give me plenty of fodder to write fanfic about. Like, I've got some vague stuff outlined for a potential entry of the Flash Sentry Papers centered around Twilight's ascension to full-on monarch ... but at the same time I'm kind of waiting for the finale just so I know what the hell the "official" story is so I can turn around and put a different perspective on it.
Alternately, twitter tells me June is Pride month, so, uh, I could write some sweet and fluffy and super-gay Rarijack fic or something.
... though to be honest, I've been slowly plugging away at 'original' work for the last little bit. It's ... approaching the 10k word mark, and I'm in a weird spot, alternating between 'agh this is terrible' and 'hey maybe I could salvage this.' So ... that's something, right?
But that'll be something for later, 'cause I think I'm gonna go to bed now.
If you're the type to get super critical about the stuff you write, it might be better not to read it at all until you write the last chapter.
Have you seen the latest Equestria Girls Short? There's a detail in the background I think you'll like.
Best of luck with the original piece.
And hey, at least we got confirmation that the Apple parents were in fact alive when Apple Bloom was born.
I love the fact that Granny Smith told Applejack and Big Mac to "go buck your own selves!" Which will be one of the closest lines we will get to a swear in the show, haha
