Music to write by · 4:59am Jun 2nd, 2019

Hey readers! This is just a quick little blog before I get back to work. Thanks to Yr. Pal B_25, I was introduced to this cool concept called writing sprints, where you write for a very short duration (in my case, 20 minutes), with the sole goal of quantity. Since I was sufficiently recovered from my surgery, I've taken on a new writing regime that I've maintained every day since, with today being my 22nd day assuming I get my last few sessions in. The regime itself is a mix of longer "free writing" sessions and sprints.

I'll go into more detail on it in a week, once I've completed 30 days of it (originally set out as a personal habit-forming challenge), but one thing I'll leave you with is the music I've been using. I've tried several methods over the years, from listening to my own tracks to radio, and I've found this to be the best station for me: https://www.youtube.com/user/ThePrimeThanatos/featured Just look for whatever the current livestream is.

The songs have little to no lyrics, aren't too high-energy or too chill, and I turn it up with headphones on when I go to work. I guess this also can have the psychological effect of making me get into a working mood more easily, because I only listen to this music when I'm writing.

Thanks for sharing!

What's the total 30-day word count? Of course, I'm comparing to NaNoWriMo.

Sprints make sense as an exercise, particularly to help one make maximum utilization of limited periods of free time.

No problem! I've been meaning to blog about this for a while.

I haven't hit 30 days yet. There's no word goal, only a time goal, and I only record the word count to show myself what I've managed to accomplish in the time I've committed to. That said, let's just say hitting NaNoWriMo numbers hasn't been an issue.
