Why not have Spike as Abu, Discord as the genie, and Trixie as Iago.

I'm gonna have it be (maybe) where Sombra cursed Spike into a Bird without him knowing and is using him for something-something plot (Haven't worked it all out)
Trixie as the Genie just sounds fun

If you don't mind either changing Al's gender or a non-straight romance, Aladdin could be Rarity and for the Captain of the Guard you could use Rainbow Dash. Rarity's generosity does make her a diamond in the rough, and that's ignoring her cutie mark.

Let's see, adventurous, doesn't like bullies and tries to make others happy. That sounds like Pinkie to me if you don't use her 4th wall powers or Pinkie Sense, but that's just my idea.
