May Update #4 · 7:17pm May 24th, 2019
Well, things got heavy there, didn't they? It's only going to get more intense if you can believe it. The kirin story is boiling over at this point, and there's only three chapters to go. As for when they'll come out...
The ultimate goal, as of today, is to have the entire story finished before the end of June. Out of the three chapters, there's about two normal-ish chapters in there(3-5K words from the looks of it) and one chapter I know will be a long one. Given that May isn't over yet and there's four full workweeks in June, it should be finished by that goal. If something comes up, there will be a post on the blog about it.
It is weird, though. I'll go into detail on the author's notes for the final chapter, but the story's diverged from the original plans, and the climatic chapter will have the biggest change of them all. At some point, when you do a story this long, the characters take a life of their own, and sometimes, the original ideas you had no longer work for them. Other times, sticking to your guns with your first outline is what you should do, but with this one, I thought the former was what needed to happen.
It's going to be tricky to some degree, because the changes will need to be perfect for the intent to work, but it will likely be better than the original ideas I had. Either way, this has been a very rewarding experience, and here's to seeing it through over the coming weeks.
