Destinies Intertwined (Hoo Boy... Here we go)

Hello everyone. I apologize again for the lack of information sent your way. This college semester has finally been completed on my side so I figure now is the best time to start informing you again on what I’m planning on doing for this school free summer. Well, for starters, I have to start off with some bad news. I know, nobody ever likes bad news. But unfortunately I have to start off with this story, Destinies Intertwined.

Now, I somewhat recently had a talk with both my proofreader and another friend of mine who has had experience in reading Kingdom Hearts crossovers, and also tried to write one himself. In short, I gave it a long time of thought and unfortunately, I do not think I will be able to complete this story at all. So don’t expect it any time soon. As for the reasons of why I am discontinuing this story? I’ll try to explain myself for coming to these decisions.

Length of the Series

First off to start is how long this story would have continued onward if I was indeed successful in writing it. Like… how truly long this story was. The finalized idea I had for The Forgotten Memory was that it would an established set of acts for each part. One act would have introduced everyone and at least set up the story for what was going to happen. The second would find the characters realizing the danger of the situation around them and thus divide them somewhat, and then the third act would be the eventual outcome; and in turn for this particular story, it would have a bittersweet finale.

Long story short it would just take way too long to completely write it out. Not to mention that this would have happened not just for this story, but for all the other sequential ones that would have followed if I actually wrote this story. All stories would have this three act structure. Not entirely trying to copy the hero’s three act structure of most stories, but in term, setting up the world and characters in each one.

That and I figure that I would have run out of steam very quickly trying to write all of this out. Now onto the next reason.

Complexity

Just like the Kingdom Hearts series the story would very well have its own complex set of rules in its own story setting. And very much so I fear that as it would continue the story would need to become more and more complex in order to explain everything. And that’s its own elements without adding the complex system of how Kingdom Hearts works in general by its own rules. The story would just be a jumbled mess with too many rules to rely on to tell a decent story. And the final reason?

Character Issues

If there is one thing I commend the Kingdom Hearts series for, is the multitude of original characters it has. While it's one thing to have a lot of characters with little development or none at all, each character in the story at least gets their own little bit of screen time here and there. Does that mean they’re all great characters? Not necessarily, but to get to my point, adding My Little Pony characters into this universe would… oh my god the stress levels would rise.

I mean… it’s just an additional set of characters to flesh out in this universe while trying to add Kingdom Hearts characters into the mix. Not to mention that I would need to shoehorn characters in, and while they would have a necessity in each setting, it’s still just bringing them in to the setting. There’s just… too many characters to bring in without losing one’s mind trying to get them all right.

I… I really, really wanted to get this right. But no matter how hard I tried to let myself believe that it would work I realized too late on that this story would just be… way too much to handle. So, unfortunately, I am cancelling this story. I am cancelling it and deleting it. This, in turn, may lead me to delete my one-shot related story as well, but I’ll think about that. Now, could I come back to this story in the future? There’s a possibility…

The Possibility

Now. If I were to pursue a story like this in the future, I’d have to set up new rules and regulations for myself. First off, if I were to make another Kingdom Hearts crossover, I wouldn’t be able to use any of Square Enix’s characters. This means no Sora, Kairi, Riku, etc. and certainly means no Organization XIII. Disney characters would be fair game, but only those that I’d select instead of rehashing old ones from the actual game series.

Now if I were to use rehashed characters that’d only be kept to just King Mickey, Yen Sid, Maleficent and Pete. I don’t know about Donald or Goofy as it’d feel odd to separate them from Sora. Besides that no other Disney characters would be used that have already been used. That is, of course, if I do come back to this series. There’s a possibility that I would return to this story. However… cancelling the original story here was what made me go into a stagnant in my writing.

My Monthly Hiatus

I’ve just… I guess I’m a little said that the story I’ve been working on for five years is pretty much dead. It was a story that never would have worked out no matter how hard I tried and I didn’t find out until the very last moment. Which… hit me pretty hard when it did. So if you’re wondering why I’ve gone silent… that’s pretty much been the reasoning for it.

But I believe I’m just about over it at this point. I think for certain I’ll be able to get back to the grind once I’m over my feelings for the original story. I at least thought I’d add this in to let you all know why I’ve been silent over the past few months. I definitely knew what I was doing wasn’t entirely great of me. But… I hope that now things will get back on track.
