My Little Pony Season 9 News 04/23/2019 · 11:41am Apr 23rd, 2019

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the final season of MLP! As you can see from the image above, after nine episodes had been announced to kick off the new season we have just received word that another episode has been added to the mix. Now granted I was severely wrong as to where this one instance in the show would take place, as I either assumed it would happen during the premier or even during last weekend's 200th episode (Which focused on the 'sibling rivalry' plot device and all). But today we aim to see if this image rings true in the subject of today's episode discussion:

Going to Seed

Now according to the plot synopsis, apparently Applejack and Apple Bloom are attempting to get a harvest in order when all of a sudden the presence of a magical, yet mysterious creature distracts the youngest sibling who becomes obsessed with capturing it. Yet here is the key set of words surrounding this upcoming story, 'Magical Creature', a vague description of an elusive creature that all of a sudden is making it's presence this late in the game. We have no idea what this creature is supposed to be, what reason it has to be on the Apple Family's farm, or even 'why' Apple Bloom thinks capturing the creature will help the harvest. The two theories that come to mind are simple:

1. This creature is responsible for the disappearance of some of their crops and Apple Bloom wants to feel like a 'big pony' by capturing the beastie before it eats all their produce.

2. This creature actually displays some magical properties that could prove very useful in speeding up the process and Apple Bloom hopes to find this creature thinking it can help the sisters.

We also have to bear in mind this one conflict: Applejack. Now I've enjoyed watching Applejack during the course of the series and the bond that the sisters have shared, the most explored sibling relationship I might add, has been considered a crowd favorite for the fandom. But often times, Applejack stubbornly Apple Bloom to follow her instructions accordingly, in some ways acting more like a 'mother' than a sister. To the point that when Apple Bloom tries to speak up, her own words seem to fall on deaf ears and Applejack hardly listens (Like the time she couldn't trust Apple Bloom to stay at home alone or that one time she wouldn't listen to Apple Bloom when she claimed that Troubleshoes was not a vicious criminal, but just very clumsy). We've all had this type of sibling dynamic before where communication has often been considered a problem trying to get the message across, there's even been a case when a parent and their kid have trouble understanding each other (Like in 'A Goofy Movie' to name an example).

Either way, at the center of this entire conflict for the episode, this creature (Whatever it may be) is the central plot device driving the issue along. A harvest is in need of being put together and understandably so the stress of getting the task done may get the best out of Applejack, who probably wouldn't even be in the right mindset to listen to Apple Bloom's belief there's this creature they need to find. Yet it's also meant to understand that there's going to come a point when Apple Bloom is going to get 'tired' of being treated this way, that she's getting older and has many ideas of her own if only her own 'family' would take the time to listen (I wouldn't even be shocked if she calls out Applejack for 'pretending to be her mother' when she's never had the chance to meet her). There's some potential to build some further lore in this realm with the inclusion of this creature, yet this story also serves as yet another test in what hopes to strengthen the bond between the sisters (And hopefully it's not just another episode written just for laughs). Come what may, I am curious to see just what the new episode has to offer as I await to see what further episode announcements are still to come.

But now the big question remains: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below to add your thoughts in the mix.

Until then, this is the Dramamaster829... Signing out!
