Why I Don't Write Romance Or Comedy That Much · 3:43am Mar 9th, 2019
So, FerociousCreation made a blog post asking people read/write romance. I found this interesting because out of all the stories I've written, I only have one with the romance tag on it, which is my only EQG story on this site. And both that story and the romance tag wouldn't exist if I wasn't intrigued by a blog post by Equestrian Twist who started talking about MLP movie characters in the EQG universe and the main character, Skyheart, has a crush on one of my own OC's. I'm not going to spoil anything, but the blog post got me thinking and since it was one about why FC writes/reads romance, I decided to make a blog post on why I don't write/read romance. And as a disclaimer, this is not to bash on those who write/read romance. I just don't like to do either of those. And here's why.
The same reason why I don't write/read romance is the same as why I don't do the same with comedy. The audience for both is just to vast for me to tackle. I'm still a young guy, and as crazy as it sounds, I've only love one girl out of the many girls I've met. This is mainly due to the fact that I was able to build a relationship with her before I could become sexually attracted and it kind of just carried on. So because of my lack of a love life, I don't feel like I can confidently write romance without offending a lot of people or feeling like I didn't do it right. And I know the same could be said for other genres I write in, but that's only because I've read a lot of stories with similar elements, so I feel safe using those as I guess you can say reference. And since I don't read any romance, I don't really have anything to pull from. And the reason why I don't read romance in the first place is because stories with romance, to me, aren't really all that interesting. But if you guys have any interesting romance stories, I'm all eyes and ears. But yeah, that's basically the gist of it.
I got something for ya. Why not try your luck on... Spike and Sweetie Belle.
