I’m writing. · 4:01am Feb 21st, 2019
TL:DR- Work sucks, I know. Hope to have Twilight Dragonkle Chapter 4 by the end of the month. Also I can’t make it to the last Bronycon.
If, for some reason, you want to hear my personal/professional woes?
Well, let’s see. We’ll start with professional woes. My current schedule is completely effed up after having been steady for months beforehand. But it’s actually my coworker I’m more worried about. He went in to the hospital, got told he had to have a triple bypass soon, but they had to wait for his ulcers (yes, plural) to clear up. Except, surprise surprise US healthcare system, his insurance won’t cover the surgery unless he has a heart attack. And now he’s got to run around trying to get medically cleared to return to work because he’s out of sick days and has bills to pay.
We were already short one weekend guy thanks to an argument between my supervisor and the office managers. So we were two guards down. OT is great, eight hour turn-arounds and twelve hour shifts are not.
Then, of course, another coworker gets bitten by a spider and it gets bad enough that she has to take a week off. So we’re down 3 guards now. And the office isn’t in the mood to be helpful.
And in spite of all that, I’m writing a little bit every day or two and getting that creativity going.
On the personal side, I had an audition scheduled last weekend that the voice actor for Goku (Dragonball) told me to just do. And I would have, had work not gone so effed that I worked three eight hour shifts broken up by only eight hours off and then two twelves with only twelve hours off between.
Thurs-14:00-22:00
Friday-06:00-14:00 & 22:00-06:00
Saturday 18:00-06:00
Sunday 18:00-06:00
And I was supposed to have three days off to make up for it before that spider bite. Ugh, that’s work again.
So my personal life is getting hijacked by work. I’m going to get back into theatre again, I’m not giving up entirely.
Even with the OT, I’m living paycheck to paycheck, which brings me to my next point. My goal this year is to save enough money to move out east. I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life and I’m done with it. I’m told there are four seasons in many places outside the Valley of the Sun. I’d like to try living with all four.
But, as a result, I won’t have the money to fly to Maryland and experience the last Bronycon. I would’ve loved to have gone and then just stayed on that side of the country, but I took over a car payment and insurance for my brother and that’s why it’s hard to save money at the moment. I’ll have it paid off in May, so I’ll have to subject myself to one more Arizona summer. Plan is to move in the early months next year. I’ll be up to renew my guard license in this state by then, which I’ll probably do just in case. Then I’ll move and get licensed in the state I settle on. I’m excited, but cautious. I’ve never been great at saving money, but if I can reign in my impulse buys, fast food spending and keep maintenance on the car relatively cheap, then I should be good.
Anyway, sorry to my friends who I won’t get to see at BC. But I’ll be closer to the east coast and it’s my understanding that other states don’t take eight to twelve hours just to get out of, like it is here. So I’ll be hitting up that Atlantic coast, bay-bee! So many places I want to hit up.
Well, until the story update,
Much luv,
-TAM
