While the changelings in the pony pov verse won't be turning Tooty Fruity, (that was the entire point of this side story: https://www.deviantart.com/alexwarlorn/art/Pony-POV-Series-Night-At-a-Bar-702917929 ... )
I do imagine Thorax WILL become friends with Spike at the Crystal Empire, and Cadence, facing the stress of ruling two kingdoms, (making her an Empress) quickly begins to groom Thorax to be "regent" for the changeling swarm (same way Cadence was officially "regent" of the Crystal Empire, and is de facto ruler.). Rather than saying "Hey, you're king now."
Though a tragic side to this is that Pharynx is possibly one of Pitcher Plant's swarm.

She was the changeling whose egg hatched prematurely during Chrysalis' fight with Queen Cocoon. She hasn't been talked about much in the mane series. Her only real starring role was in one of Amicitia's timeline visit saga. She's adopted by Chrysalis early on and was mentioned in passing a few times. She now basically leads the changelings who reject Cadence as their new leader (composed of those who LIKED having slaves).
Why would Pharyx possibly in Pitcher Plant's swarm? His character seems to be in line with the more reasonable changelings like Hercules Beetle and I sincerely doubt THIS version of Equestria is pacifistic enough to make him go rogue like in the Heart World. Not to mention, they also won't be turning Tooty Fruity like you said so that's one less possible complaint from him.
