The Thicc of It
Okay, this took longer than expected. I was hoping to get the next chapter out by October 27, a whole month after Damage Control but due to a series of editorial delays (yes, I did just throw you under the bus, Peer), it was pushed back to today. If I announce anything in the future, think of them more like guidelines than actual rules.
Now, onto the chapter itself... this was a doozy. And I don't mean that lightly: I'm kind of getting tired of trekking through the mountains, describing what's more or less the same scenery all around. Maybe that shows, maybe that doesn't, but either way, I'm glad this'll be the last chapter doing that for a while — like, maybe three or four. In any case, to anyone who's been paid attention to the ending of the last chapter and the short description, it shouldn't come as a surprise what's become of Amber. The question is, can Adam figure it out before it's too late?
Spoiler Alert: Of course he doesn't, because otherwise it'd be a rather uneventful journey, but he does make a very admirable effort.
I didn't originally mean to name it after one of the more recent Season 8 episodes — it just came to me, I swear. But I guess it worked out in my favour, involving changelings and all, and quite possibly the terrible past of Selene hidden just beneath the surface.
Who knows? Maybe Adam's temper is finally starting to bubble over in some lasting way.
