I think Twilight's best pony because I relate to her the best.

Thoughts on the Season 8 Finale · 6:11pm Oct 28th, 2018

Firstly, I know I’m late in reacting to this. I was busy with school. Secondly, I’m still busy with school, and I will be even busier with school in the future, so I’m going to have to keep this short. I also might not be posting much for a while. Anyway, here are my thoughts on the finale and maybe the season as a whole.

Mane Six things:

  1. I love how Twilight is learning how to rely on her friends more with saving Equestria stuff.
  2. This is the best teamwork I’ve seen out of the Mane Six since the episode with the escape room. Granted, their whole mission was a red herring, and their most epic battle was them opening a door, but still, yay, teamwork.
  3. Weaponized Pinkie Pie is best Pinkie Pie. :rainbowlaugh:

Student Six things:

  1. Woo-hoo! Those are my kids. One semester in, and they’re already saving the day from evil. :pinkiehappy:
  2. The part where Sandbar seemingly turns his back on his friends was hard to watch. I mean, I knew it was fake from the beginning, but his friends didn’t know that. Aww, but I knew my other boy wouldn’t let me down.
  3. Yona is best glomper. Her affections are so sweet, so cute, yet so imaginably painful. :rainbowlaugh:

Cozy Glow things:

  1. The heck, Hasbro! :flutterrage: I know this episode airs in October, but did you HAVE to make Cozy so scary? :fluttershyouch: It’s one thing when fiction uses something that I’m ALREADY afraid of to scare me, but using something that I love, adore, and normally feel safe around (namely children and cute small things) to scare me? That’s a whole new level of terrible.
  2. I have not seen a child that desperate for power since young Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender and maybe the young princes in my mom’s Chinese historical fiction soap operas, but that makes sense because they’re royalty and power struggles kind of come with the territory. It’s also possible that they’ve learned to associate power with Mommy and/or Daddy’s love. How did Cozy Glow become that desperate? :twilightoops:
  3. Cozy makes me appreciate how not evil most normal children are. :scootangel:

Season 8 in general things:

  1. A lot of the morals felt like rehashes from previous seasons, but I think that was probably inevitable. I mean, they still mainly target 4-8-year-olds, and the 4-8-year-olds from 8 years ago are teenagers now, and the 4-8-year-olds who are watching now probably haven’t seen the first few seasons. The show is at a stage where it has to balance finding morals applicable to their original group of watchers and exposing their current target audience to morals that they’ve already tackled.
  2. “The Mean Six” was a surprisingly weak episode. Not only did the episode not live up to all the hype, but Chrysalis was also a surprisingly ineffective villain throughout the whole thing. I mean, we know what she is capable of. :facehoof:
  3. This season wasn’t a bad season, but the show is definitely running on its last legs. “sad face” :fluttershysad:

Concerning The Mane Six:
1)Well It took Twilight long enough, over 8 years our time
2) It's as if 'All Bottled Up' was prophetic
3) Yes, that's true

Concerning The Young Six
1) Glad to see them step up
2)Yeah... I found Sandbar's trick almost plebian-ly predictable, how did Neighsay fall for... oh they wanted to sell him as a speciests...
3) Yaks give best hugs, Yona best hugger among yaks, Pink pony says so.

Concerning Cozy
1) Well at some point Hasbro was going to do that, and Diamond Tiara really can't be used as villain any more
2) I've watched too much Law and Order to not buy the idea
3)See previous comment

Concerning the season over all
1) There's rehash and trying to present the topic in a slightly different context
2) I think that was kind of the point, also Chrysalis has been shown to be a stupid as she is smart, getting blind-sided by Cadance and Shining and underestimated Thorax. She was 0 for 2 long before the episode
3) I've always been of the mind that a Second season is to earned, but a show shouldn't not run past 10 seasons.

Please forgive me, but I hope you're wrong about that.

There's only one season of this show left, and that fact is kind of starting to show. The episodes this season just didn't quite pack the oomph that previous seasons have. :applejackunsure:

We don't know for certain, Hasbro might commission a 10th season.

:pinkiegasp: I don't know if I'm excited or scared. :fluttershyouch:

I was trying to be re-assuring.:ajbemused::facehoof:

I'm excited because yay, more ponies! I'm scared because there's a possibility that the next few season(s) won't live up to the hype. I think the live-action Beauty and the Beast has made me very apprehensive about hyping.

That's why I say a season shouldn't last more than 10 seasons. But I should make a caviate, that it should be that the number or seasons should be based on the narrative. Maybe nine seasons is just right for MLP:FiM

I don’t understand why the show says only one semester has passed. We saw the first semester end during The Hearth’s Warming Club, so this should be their second semester and the end of their first year.

Some of them did in my opinion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't semester's end in Febuary/June respectively?

Of course. At the same time, this season felt like it had more episodes that kinda fell a little flat. In the previous seasons, the episodes tended to fall between "Oh my gosh! This is SO awesome!" to "Meh. It's fine, I guess." For me this season, the episodes fell between "Oh my gosh! This is SO awesome!" and "Well, this could have gone better." Admittedly, it's only slightly worse than "Meh. It's fine, I guess." Maybe I just had higher expectations for this season than I should have.

Not for most public schools in the States.
