An Inconvenient Reminder · 3:22am Oct 24th, 2018
Hello everyone; I apologize in advance because I'm gonna go political again. But again I feel it important to point out exactly what sort of mindset is running our government. You may or may not have heard about how the current administration is considering excluding transgender persons from civil rights protections, expecting citizens to identify as either male or female and nothing in between. Now whether you believe transgenderism is a thing or not, this consideration of the Trump administration is equivocal to them not giving civil rights protection to gay people. If this administration manages to succeed in curtailing transgender rights, it could potentially start a chain reaction of the stripping away of other civil rights. After transgenderism they could aim to remove abortion rights, and if they succeed there they may even contemplate getting rid of gay marriage, so on and so forth. Essentially bringing us all back to the "good" ol' days of the 1950s where everyone knew their place and things were all black in white. As in, black and white were kept separate, but equal.
I'd like to believe that that outcome is extremely unlikely, that the people wouldn't sit well with any encroachments on rights they've been enjoying for some time. Still, the situation now is worrying all the same. When mulling over why this matter of transgenderism matters, I recall a certain phrase in the Declaration of Independence, or specifically the three unalienable rights that all people have: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. If transgender folks are seeking happiness, becoming the kind of person they want to be, and it is harming no one, then what gives the government the right to stamp that out? It's a legitimate group that experiences persecution and ridicule, and will likely face even more of it if they don't have civil rights protecting them. That kind of persecution ties into the importance of political correctness, but I'm not going to go into that because you're probably already sick of reading my rant.
The bottom-line: I implore all you registered voters to vote for anything but Republican on November 6th, or do an absentee ballot if you won't be around. The actions and interests of the Republican party are doing harms to things besides transgenderism, and with an emotionally-compromised rapist now added to the Supreme Court, they can very well get away with even more atrocities. Again I'm sorry for all this politically-charged talk, but I really feel like getting the message out to whoever I can, and you guys are my only active audience.
Thank you for your time. Have a nice night and enjoy some ponies. All the best.
While I have no idea which side I'll vote, whether I do or not, what are they talking about when they say civil rights protections being violated? Also, I don't personally see what's wrong with the abortion thing. I think people should vote where their values are pointed.

Fair point. The direction of the vote is the voter's choice. I just felt compelled to bring this up. Hopefully my next post will be more lighthearted.
