I haven't been keeping up with the show. The episodes just haven't been able to pique my interest. I watched the Maud one. I hated the boyfriend character, I thought his verbal tic was incredibly annoying. However, I enjoyed watching every Maud ship sink, though not as much as watching every Big Mac ship sink. I liked how Limestone pretty much has the healthiest relationship with Pinkie by virtue of being independent of her. She has no need for Pinkie to speak for her,nor does she need Pinkie to be happy at all times. As such, the two of them are able to converse more as equals.
I hate the Friendship School shit. It's so artificial and annoying. Obviously, it's to sell a play set or some such thing, I can understand that. I still think it's stupid.
Hey, I learned a lot about friendship in school too. No, we didn't have lectures on getting along and sharing. We studied Math, Science, English, Filipino, Hekasi, and THE. I learned friendship because I spent five days a week sitting in the same classroom with 39 other boys over the course of the school year. That's how you learn friendship. It blooms spontaneously as you accomplish things with others. You don't grow it in a lab or study it in a lecture hall. I'd rather that Twilight taught academics and then "taught" friendship as she interacted with her students, sort of like GTO for ponies.
Anyway, I noticed that the latest episode has Lightning Dust. I checked the comments and people are not happy with her characterization. I'm sure PaulAsaran loves it. Whatever. Call me when some more ships sink.
I haven't been liking the direction of the show for a while now. Season seven is where it got really bad IMO, but season eight's friendship school isn't much better.
And it's an especially stupid concept for Twilight of all ponies to think of, because she studied and learned friendship by moving out of an academic environment and interacting with people in the "real world." That's kind of what the first three seasons were all about. Yet here she is, trying to quantify friendship and teach it in a classroom. Why? Who knows. But you really have to wonder if it's even accomplishing anything at all. Even the Student Six, judged by the leaders of each nation as the ones most in need of friendship education, were friends from the first episode just by virtue of meeting and getting along, rather than because they actually learned anything in class. Even in-universe, this school has no reason to exist.

I feel like the fandom and the show have been at separate intitities sense princess Twilight. When I think of My Little Pony, or any of the charectors OC it, I think of the stories on this site, not the show. Not the best way to try to explain my point but I am really tired and don't want to think to hard at the moment.
They are just running out of plot ideas because they ended a fair amount of the charectors arca, rainbow is a wonderbolt, the crusaders have their Mark's, twilight is a princess and has learned to except that. Applejack just wants to farm, Rarity just wants to grow her business, pinkie just wants to make everyone happy.
I haven't watched any of the last two seasons. Honestly I find the stories and community here to be more interesting. Still it's a shame to hear the quality has been declining, but it's not unexpected. I wonder if the music has suffered as well? I remember some pretty catchy tunes from earlier seasons.
Lauren Faust leaving the show after the 2nd season was major blow.
