I've got a bad feeling about this...
Side note, Solo was pretty good. I left the cinema trying make up my mind about it and came to conclusion that I need to watch Rebels... which I have been debating for ages, so there's that at least. The only problem I had was there wasn't enough Lando: Glover was amazing in that role, and all I wanted was more of the cocky swindler. Hey ho, maybe there will be more in the future. Possibly. Maybe. Hopefully.
There was one scene though that I would love to imitate or try to emulate. It's fairly early in the film, so I'll try not to drop too many spoilers, but there's a whole scene where Han helps out a gang attempting to steal fuel from a train. Everything goes wrong. It was so satisfying to see it go wrong, but more so because it kept dangling this idea that it could work out ok in the end. I was on my seat, hoping and waiting for them to win just at the last moment. This is the kind of thrill I want to have in my stories.
Now, I don't like having my characers lose. I'm sure you've all noticed that they win, but at a cost each time. I don't like a clean win either, but I want to get over this hump of my characters always coming out on top. I'm not sure how I could do it without writing myself into a corner, but I also don't want the rollercoaster to become dull with it being the same routine over and over. In the end, I want there be a happy(ish) ending, things all working out. Before that though, I want the despair event horizon. I'm just not sure how to do it, or when to do it.
I also want to write another heist, but again I'm not sure how to create it without shoehorning an unnecessary moment into it. Maybe I'll work out a way to have it appear without extending the chapter count too much, but I'm pretty dead set on the cap I've set myself.
Speaking of chapters, coming up is a three chapter arc that I hope you'll enjoy. I'm currently finishing off the final part as I'm writing this. Have a few new characters, a few ideas to play with, we can see where it all goes.
Fly safe folks.
