Monthly Progress Update [June 2018] (Panthalassa, mainly) · 9:03am Jun 6th, 2018
Albums I'm Listening To This Month [June 2018]
And so, once again, here we are.
Halfway into the year already. I'm a little freaked out at how fast it all went by. Don't really have anything noteworthy to look back fondly on though, so I guess my inner nostalgiac has to wait just a little longer.
I also just want to point out that this month is the busiest month for me, especially since the production I'm involved in will premiere in the following month. As the lighting designer / sound manager / set designer / stage manager / property master / projection designer, not to mention that I have a short performance to rehearse for on Friday to promote the actual show itself, a lot of my time will be spent away from FimFic as the month goes on. Gee, I wonder why.
I can spend a bulk of my time ranting about it, but it all chalks up to false promises and sheer inexperience from my higher-ups, really.
That means expect no updates or new stories or whatever to come out in June. Still, I think it's fair that in order to make up for it, I'll let you guys know what direction the story will go towards, starting with:
Panthalassa
Chapter 3 was initially supposed to come out by this week as per the schedule I've set in May, but it turns out my production decided to throw a spanner into the works.
Basically, this chapter was supposed to introduce the rest of Moondancer's team of scientists, so besides Moondancer herself, Silica and Vellum (who isn't actually part of the team but will join them later onwards), there will be two others that'll be introduced. It's also this chapter where her research surrounding the ocean and the event from the previous chapter will begin to coincide. There will be several other teams coming in to join them, but that will come only after Chapter 4 once they've gathered at the town in which the rest of the events would take place.
The gruesome stuff will happen around Chapter 7 or 8 depending on how everything goes. Nothing too crazy yet; this story is a slow-burner when it comes to that. Nevertheless, from then on, things will start spiraling out of control for everyone. My concern for this story mainly is just maintaining the horror aspect consistently throughout every chapter once we've reached that point, cause depending on the way it's phrased, it could all chalk up to just being in there for shock value. At the same time, I don't want it to seem too unnatural either.
Most of the time, as with most of my other stories, would usually be spent on balancing the scales for that, but alas, real life awaits me. I can't promise (as usual) when everything is released yet, though I definitely am looking to get it out once I'm not needed 24/7 at the rehearsal space anymore. Still have some sheets, lists and a lighting plot to do too.
Don't ever let anyone tell you putting on a theatrical show is easy.
A Whisper In The Wind
Won't say much about it, other that like with The Drifting Chariot, this was written as a foil to balance out the stuff coming out of Panthalassa, though I'd say this story would be more similar to Doesn't That Feel Better than anything else.
It will be a bit lengthier than both stories though, mostly cause from what I've written, there's something to unpack in there. It will come out a bit later, since unlike Chariot, there's no deadline for me to work on. I'm never that good with deadlines, to be honest.
It'll be out when it's ready, that's all I can say for now.
So yes, a busy month for a busy me. I won't make any promises that I'll be any freer even after it's done though, cause I definitely have to look for something else to fall back on. I'll have to see what's about to happen, but until then, this is everything I can give for now.
Once again, sorry for making you guys wait! I'm hoping to negotiate a bit of extra time to be at home, since there isn't any, well, WiFi at the place I'm rehearsing and staying over at the weekends, which will also affect my progress on my sheets, plots and other relevant docs, since they're all on Google Drive. We'll see how that turns out.
