    How is everyone out there?

How has everyone handled the new plague? I have to ask, given that it has come way too close to yours truly. It happened a bit over a week ago, at a car show. It turned out that my nephew had covid, and wasn't feeling quite right, but went to the show anyway. I went too, making sure to wear my mask as much as I could. We hung out, and I think that I had the mask on most of the time, but I can't

    Finally Forward

I have finally moved forward on "The Blue and The Gray", though it's a big one, over 5000 words. I've never written a chapter that long before, and I have to wonder if the length will be a turnoff. I know that it has been an issue for me at times, but I really don't have an editor to help me par it down, and I have no idea if it could be shortened and keep it's meaning. So, lets see how it's

    Learning the Limits

I'm making reasonably decent progress on two of my stories, and if I stay with it, I should be able to post something new soon. In the course of working on "The Blue and the Grey" though, I find myself with a dilemma. At the end of the last chapter, I made the choice to introduce a canon character as a potential antagonist, namely Chancellor Neighsay. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but

    How's social distancing going?

I'm continuing to plow forward as best I can, trying to find ways to amuse myself while I watch this thing develop. This is definitely revealing all the flaws in how I live day to day. My long term underemployment thing continues, which I am thankful for (God knows I don't need to be sitting around any more than I do), but this thing has seriously cut back on the little things I used to do to

Where were you when all hell broke lose?

As I write this day, I'm hearing more news about the virus that is making our lives so complicated these days. As you can imagine, it hasn't been good news. In fact it sounds like a borderline clusterfuck. I don't know who to blame for this, or if it's worth trying to narrow it down right now, but it is discouraging. I've seen any number of people on Facebook posting their activities, seemingly

I've been putting it off for awhile now. But there's no escaping the inevitable. I need to get back to work and finish my story. I guess I always had the general feel of what I wanted to do, but some of my reading of recent has lead me to wonder if I can just go with a happy ending, or something a bit more nuanced. As I've mentioned before, perfect justice doesn't happen nearly often enough, but you want something good to come of the bad situation you've created. Whatever I guess. Let's just see what I can come up with.
