Sadly, I think so.
I'll just say this:
Thank Celestia for the Student Six / Young Six.
After eight years, it's most impressive that the crew can give us six new characters that are immediately and consistently charming. They were certainly the saving grace this episode. The fact that they came to the conclusion that AJ and Dash were purposefully doing everything the wrong way so the six of them would figure out the right way, was quite frankly, the best part of the episode.
Because if it were solely up to AJ and Dash, this would have been even worse than "P.P.O.V.", because they were even continuing to argue as we faded to the credits.
I agree. If not for the Young Six I would've just stopped watching, and I NEVER do that. I mean I thought the whole point of making a big deal about the school is that it would be the focal point of many of the upcoming episodes, where the YS are the ones learning the lessons while the Mane 6 don't play as much of a critical role. That was the point, right? Teaching others friendship lessons? Instead we have the Mane 6 re-learning lessons they should already know, like how friendly competition should not include putting students' lives in danger.

For the record, Ocellus is still my favorite of the six, and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.
