DYK - A Haunting in Canterlot - Part 1 · 1:37am Apr 21st, 2018
Welcome! Thank you for reading my first blog post. This is the first of a series I call "Did You Know," or DYK. In this DYK post, I will give you some fun facts about "A Haunting in Canterlot." As the story progresses, I will post updated blogs. If I didn't fully explain something, or if there is something I failed to address, please let your questions be heard.
"A Haunting in Canterlot" has certainly been a long time coming. In order to ground the story within the canon of Friendship is Magic, I reviewed episodes beginning with "The Mane Attraction" to create a timeline to ensure that there would be no contradictions or continuity errors. Below is a timeline outlining the events of the story thus far and where they fall in the Friendship is Magic timeline.
- S5,ep24 "The Mane Attraction"
- Prologue: Unveiled
- S5,ep25 "The Cutie Re-Mark: Part 1"
- S5,ep26 "The Cutie Re-Mark: Part 2"
- S6,ep01 "The Crystalling: Part 1"
- S6,ep02 "The Crystalling: Part 2"
- One: A Friendly Invitation
- S6,ep03 "The Gift of Maud Pie"
- S6,ep04 "On Your Marks"
- S6,ep05 "Gauntlet of Fire"
- S6,ep06 "No Second Prances"
- Two: A Strange Encounter
- Three: "There's a Monster on the Loose!"
The remaining chapters will take place between season six, episodes six and seven, "No Second Prances" and "Newbie Dash."
Now, here is a quick guide on the OC's listed in order of their appearances.
Show Biz
Show Biz is Coloratura's new manager. He has played a crucial role in helping her organize her new tour. A fellow name in the industry, he knows very well the kind of pony Svengallop is. Unlike Svengallop, however, he works with Coloratura to write new songs and allows her to be herself.
Phantom
The Phantom is a mysterious creature who was first seen on the road from Appleloosa where it turned Trixie and the manticore from her show to stone. Not much is known about the Phantom other than it possesses the ability of petrification, has glowing red eyes, makes chirping sounds, and walks on three legs. This description comes from Starlight, the only pony to have seen the Phantom. Its current whereabouts are unknown.
Detective Gumhoof
This Ponyville resident was the first on the case the minute Starlight brought word of the Phantom. The Unicorn investigator will leave no stone unturned (no pun intended) in his quest to solve the mystery of who, or what, turned Trixie and the manticore to stone.
