Okay, so here's how things are gonna work for the time being:
I will be doing only ONE commission at a time, so it will be first come first serve via Fimfic private messge, unless demand is greater (which I doubt honestly) then I will figure something else out at the appropriate time. I shall make a separate blog post when the slot is open, linking back to this blog post.
That being said, I give myself the right, liberty, and donuts to refuse any ideas given forth that fail my restrictions. And just what are those restrictions?
1: Nothing over a Teen rating, nor anything heavy on gore. I don't care about some minor violence or romance, but nothing explicit.
2: One shot only. Not doing anything multiple chapter, unless you commission my max word count, then depending on circumstances and further discussion it may happen. I will all be posted in one lump sum.
3: Maximum word I'm aiming for is 5000 words. I'm not going to be crazy, if I go over by a couple hundred or so it won't hurt anything.
4: No copyrighted music lyrics. I may cheat on my own stories, but not for this.
5: Nothing MLD related. It may sound silly, but because of the over abundance of fan made continuations and side stories, I wish not to add to that, parody or other.
5.5: Expanding upon 5, no major parodies of any other popular fics.
Now, how about some things that I am totes okay with doing!
1: Romance, as stated above, is okay. Straight, gay, or otherwise providing it's not way out there.
2: OC's are fine too! However, limiting to two or three, depending on character's involvement. Mixing OC's and main characters is fine as well.
3: Other fic world building is okay! However, that being said, I don't know all of the big fics. Sure, I read Fallout Equestria and Past Sins, but other fics I may need to take time to read them and understand, which case remember that it will add time to how long your fic takes to be completed. (Example of this is if you want a story about a background pony during Past Sins, or a small side story to the Fallout Equestria world.)
3.5: Further on 3, anything directly mocking another author's story/character(s), be it in good humor or mean, MUST come with written consent from the original author, but that shouldn't even happen anyway. No direct parodies, remember!
Payment shall be made to me once I've accepted the project, and before initial work begins. I will accept paypal, mailed money order (I know how the real world works, so this will be a viable option for those wishing it.), or cash in a birthday card.
I'm totally, 100% serious about that last one. However, it comes with a catch: You're added to my Christmas Card list and shall get one every holiday season.
Now, what's the pricing? I've gone over several other authors on this site, talked to many as well, and am going by the given advice of what I've been told I'm worth, and what I think I'm worth. The rate shall be $8 USD per 1k words. Every 500 between will be $4 USD. Examples: Say you commission a story wanting roughly 2k words. That will be $16. Say you want 3.5k words, then $28. However, say you pay for 4k words, but I end up writing 4.5k because I got into it. Your price does not change, because you got what you paid for, and you get a little bonus on the house. Word count bases shall be made using Gdocs, because Fimfic is weird with its word counting program.
My margin of error will be 150 words below what you paid. So if you paid for 3k words, but only managed 2.9k because it comes out that way, then that's within bounds. If I end up with 2,850 words, then more words have to be added, or you shall be reimbursed for 500 words, aka $4 (that shouldn't happen though, I'll add some more words). I think that's fair, but all may be subject to change, however once a commission has started, any changes will NOT affect the current commissioned fic.
Now, how about your involvement? Discord will be the primary source of one on one, although Fimfic PM is also accepted. Once I've accepted your project and payment has been made, you will receive a gdoc link that you may any time go to and comment upon. My writing habits are kinda all over, so this way if you're not around and I do some writing, I will send you a message and you can check in on any time, and if I'm not around you can leave comments about changes or ideas you'd like to see implemented.
However, any drastic idea changes to a fic that result in additional word count shall be charged the normal rate of $4 per 500 words, providing it does not exceed the 5k word limit.
Time frame for fic completion will vary, depending on how much detail and word count. For that reason, and my track record of updating fics, I am giving no time frame, however, anything past six months you shall receive a full reimbursement and given full right to the gdoc containing the fic, so you may do whatever you wish with it.
Now, are you not sure if you want to commission me? Here are some suggested genera's and tags that I've asked people to rate that I write the best.
Slice of Life, Dark, OC's, Human, Human in Equestria, Anon, Comedy (although that one's iffy imho), and Sad (again, iffy, but so says the people). I will write other things, except for the before mentioned explicit sex, gore, or anything going too far into the mature tag.
Lastly, once fic is completed, what then? It shall be posted upon my account, with a clear indication that it was a commissioned fic by yourself, or if you wish to be, anonymous. If the former, it will provide a link to your account unless you wish otherwise. It shall also say what your commission helped pay for. Now, some people don't really care what their money goes to, so long as they get their story. Myself? I don't like that way of thinking. So whenever a commission is completed, it shall be noted just what your money did to help. All commission money will be towards bills, gas, or tools. Any luxuries are out of my own pocket, because I do have a job.
