Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer are not clones · 2:51am Apr 2nd, 2018

Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer are not clones. This is nonsense IMHO, a superficial comparison.

Both are powerful female unicorns former antagonists....

But...

Starlight Glimmer had a MESSIAH complex. Sunset Shimmer had a SUPERIORITY complex.

Starlight was a communist. Sunset was a fascist.

They were OPPOSITE EXTREMES!

Sunset LOOKED DOWN on others on principle, Starlight despised anyone who (in her mind) acted like they were superior (or could act like they were superior) to their fellow ponies.

Sunset Shimmer was everything Starlight Glimmer hated. Starlight Glimmer was everything Sunset Shimmer looked down on.

And Twilight managed to REASON with Starlight Glimmer, while Sunset Shimmer had to be blasted before she'd come around.

Glimmer's motives were from her being traumatized, Sunset Shimmer's motives were greed and ambition.

Sunset Shimmer had to EARN her redemption because the entire student body new she was a monster.
Starlight Glimmer had hers handed to her almost on a silver platter since the overwhelming majority of Equestria had no clue what she'd done.

I see your point

Starlight was a communist.

not really....

Can you file this under ‘Shit I Already Know’?

Look, I only have ONE certifiable method of deducing the particular nature of ponies. What flavor do they taste like? Sunset would be lemony, and Starlight would be a bubbly grape from what I can tell. A perfectly reasonable method of defining otherwise complex characters. Right Pinkie Pie?

:pinkiehappy: "I taste like bubblegum! Stretched into the vastness of infinity!"

Thank you Pinkie Pie.

...I don't think fascism and communism are too far away from one another on the political spectrum. Both involve a strong central government with involvement in most industries and a lack of civil liberties for the common masses. One just deludes itself into thinking that it's benevolent.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

What he said. I've read the Nazi party platform, and it's hard to see a difference between it and what the Russian Communists purportedly wanted. Or for that matter what both of the major parties want in the USA today. That's not me saying, "See, the Dems/Republicans are really Nazis! Shows you!" That's me saying that just because someone wants something you regard as pure good, that doesn't make them noble or fine human beings. It's how they intend to go about it that should tell the rest of us how closely to watch them.

Ironic since I thought it was the opposite. Sunset remained a leader, while Starlight became fixated on individuality instead of finding a more balanced version of her old world view.
