The Wandering Bard

"I am a singer, a poet, a musician, a storyteller. I am a bard at heart. That is who I am. That is what I shall always be." (Icon by atokota on FurAffinity)

    Some OC Questions

Hey, all! This is a meme by gilgamemesh I've seen around Tumblr, and since I haven't gotten any asks about it there, I thought I'd post it here! Here's how it works: pick a number or multiple numbers from the list, post it/them in the comments, and in about a week or so (depending on how many asks I get), I'll post a follow-up blog about it! And if two people ask about the same number, that's

Why do you create? · 2:58am Mar 29th, 2018

This is a question that I asked a few days ago in The Insane Creators Guild, and it's an interesting question for sure.

When I logged in to my email account a few days ago, I saw the title of a conversation thread from a group I am in. The thread asked, "Why do you shoot photography?" Unfortunately, the title proved to be misleading as it linked to an article rather than a discussion about photography itself, but it gave me the inspiration to ask this.

Why do you create?

I myself am a writer, a photographer, and I have been dabbling in art again after many, many years. I create because I find enjoyment out of it. I love being able to take a small concept and to turn it into a fully-fledged story. I enjoy the challenge of getting just the right angle of a shot with my camera, and then tweaking it just so to really make it pop. I do art because it is fun and therapeutic, and I love being able to bring characters to life and stretching my skills. All of these are so satisfying in the end, and even if the journey is sometimes difficult, I have almost always learned some sort of valuable lesson.

So, what about you?

It makes me happy. I take a lotta pictures (just with my phone, I don't have a proper camera or editing software, though my dad will occasionally let me use his) and post them to my insta, untagged, just bc it makes me happy. Same with writing. Art gives me a sense of joy and fulfillment that nothing else does.

Can is be frustrating? Yes. But that doesn't lessen my enjoyment. If I stop having fun, if something I'm supposed to enjoy becomes a job, I stop. End of story.

it makes me happy, and I like giving my characters life in a way

I can certainly understand that feeling.

Very well said. I definitely know where you are coming from.

As a side note, how do you like Instagram? I post my photography on DeviantArt and Tumblr, and have thought about using Instagram as well.

I sadly have been slacking when it comes to writing

A professor once told me, "If you have a story to tell, tell it." That quote has always stuck with me. It is also the reason I create. I love being able to tell stories, through film mainly, but through whichever medium works best to tell that story. Creating is fun and imaginative. I love seeing everything come to life from idea, to paper, to screen. I certainly can't do any of this by myself, and it is really great that some of the best friends I've ever had have saddled up to join me on this trail drive. Great big thanks to all of them!

To summarize my rambling, I create because it is fun, relaxing, imaginative, and has made new friendships blossom.

As have I. But I am hoping to do some tomorrow. I finally finished season seven today, and it's put me in the mood.

I can completely agree with all of your points. Cheers to creators, and cheers to those who stick with them!

Best of luck. I’m still awaiting inspiration

Thank you. I actually didn't manage to get any writing done. Exhaustion plus very little food mixed with semi-strong alcohol was not a good idea. :rainbowlaugh:

Not at all. :rainbowlaugh: I was pretty out of it all afternoon.

Thanks, Final!

Your very welcome :)

Haha, no, thankfully. I was smart and drank lots of water.
