Planeswalker Card Concepts, Mark II · 8:02am Mar 14th, 2018
A revised version of some of the planeswalker card concepts I posted before. All three have been tweaked a bit for balance reasons, and to more closely tie them into what I want to do with them thematically. I’m mostly making it a new post instead of an edit so I can get further feedback on the cards and their balance, since planeswalkers are easily the most difficult to get right.
Let me know if you have any general thoughts, or further suggestions for tweaking.

That's more reasonable. The third's ultimate is still horrifying on multiple levels, but I suppose it does require five turns of uninterrupted setup... barring Doubling Season. Of course, getting Doubling Season involved breaks just about every planeswalker except Tibalt. That said, don't you think eight starting loyalty on a net four mana 'walker is a bit much?

The first 'walker has a high starting loyalty because he has absolutely no way of protecting himself with his own abilities. It's a similar deal to Narset Transcendent, who also has a ridiculously high starting loyalty for her CMC, but also has no way of stopping attackers on her own.
The last emblem is intentionally designed to be the most broken. All three of the third planeswalker's abilities are direct parallels to abilities of one of her other cards, one that's particularly infamous for having one the most powerful emblems in the game.
A question... Are you actually making as set for these or are they just online for fun? because I personally would love to have a MTG card set for this and your stories.

I likely won’t do that, as designing a full set is substantially more complex than designing individual cards and requires a lot of forethought and planning for how mechanics interact, whether they’re intended for constructed, limited, or eternal formats, etc. I don’t have time to really go into it to that degree.

understandable. I was just curious.
