Forgive me, for I am sleepy

Next chapter of Rendezvous is all written. Will edit and publish it tomorrow. Wanted to publish it tonight, but that's not going to happen because it's super late and I have an early morning meeting at work tomorrow. I was already falling asleep at my desk yesterday, so I really should have gone to bed hours ago.

    Switcheroo Entries!

So I've finally started to make good on that promise to publish 50K words by year's end. Took my sweet time, too.

Oh boy, let's see how much I can overreach

Everybody knows that New Year's resolutions don't work. But hey, they can't hurt, right?

I'm going to do a dumb thing and make a promise on the internet. It is as follows: By the end of the year, I plan to double the wordcount I have published here on my Fimfic account. Rounding it up to a nice, even number gives us 50,000. No sweat, eh?

Hi new followers! + Old Coot retrospective

So, this is something I'd usually like to do on people's individual userpages, but I was afraid I'd miss someone. So have it all in one go:

Everybody knows that New Year's resolutions don't work. But hey, they can't hurt, right?

I'm going to do a dumb thing and make a promise on the internet. It is as follows: By the end of the year, I plan to double the wordcount I have published here on my Fimfic account. Rounding it up to a nice, even number gives us 50,000. No sweat, eh?

Why, you surely ask, am I burdening my foolish self with this nonsense? Because I am really tired of brushing off my writing and not improving at it. I want to expand my boundaries, even if I have to kick myself in the ass to do it. I don't have a specific plan about how I'm going to fill 50 kilo-horse-words, but clearly waiting for divine inspiration doesn't work. And also, I've got a huge backlog of stories at my Writeoff account that I've been too damn lazy to edit and publish here.

And, that's all folks. Expect great things. Or don't. Either way, please send help.

Sweet! I look forward to it!

(Boy, you're fast) Thank you! It frightens me to an embarrassing degree that I might end up dissapointing people, but no matter what my lizard-brain says, I'm going to tell myself that it's good motivation. :derpytongue2:

Seeing what you’ve already done, I can’t wait for your future tales.

I'm fast. Huh.

Better write fast.

Or I'll have a knife.

For motivational purposes.

You flatterer, you.

I'd start running, but I'm lazy and I'm also indoors.

Well, good luck to you, Bachiavellian. Although 50,000 words in a year seems pretty manageable, since it's roughly 137 words a day, or 4,167 words a month, on average. Heck, with enough NaPoWriMo-level commitment, you could probably pull it off in a matter of weeks and then take the rest of the year off.

In fact, I'm just having a look through your collection now, and I must say you look like the sort who can deliver both quantity and quality. For me, Shoots and Roots and Cold Case in particular stand out as fine works I remember quite keenly. Seems like your batting average is pretty good, too.

And after all, if you've got a good thing going, add to it. (Even if you hadn't, what better way to improve than with practice?). So you've got my vote, at least. I say go for it!

4,167 words a month

Oh my god, that sounds a thousand times worse than 50K in a year. What fresh hell have I gotten myself into? ... But it's not like I've been writing anyway, so I've got literally nothing to lose.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I certainly hope I can deliver.

:rainbowhuh: I gather it's not your usual speed, but... that strikes me as a pretty forgiving rate of production. Heaven pushing itself a bit, shall we say? There are plenty of ways of controlling for quality in the planning and editing stages at that speed.

Now, Hell? You want Hell? Hell would be trying to produce 4,167 words per day.

Minimum.

Trust me, never ever try anything like this speed.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I certainly hope I can deliver.

You're welcome. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the results. :scootangel:

The last thing I published here was nearly a year ago, so my "usual speed" is zilch. Baby steps.
