Presented below is a fascinating look at the history of progression based pay to win Lootbox (the "Wilson Lootcrate"), at least from a Western viewpoint; for some reason, the essay doesn't detail the gatcha systems popular in Eastern free-to-play games. I await your thoughts, my good ladies and gentlemen.
That was very good. I didn't know about the history of the loot box until now. But he's right EA doesn't make games anymore they make lootboxes.
Yeah, gatchas and "pay to open" crate drops were the bane of my existence when I was still playing the Korean FtP MMOs. Wasted a whole lot of my life and money on Mabinogi and its spinoff Vindictus.
Now if only we could convince the general public to stop buying them and we could get rid of them once and for all.
i kinda hope this will make them desperate enough to sell off the rights to all the good games they have consumed.
