Deities of AssassinationVerse: Kubwa, The Grand Spirit of the Zebra’s · 1:01pm Oct 25th, 2017

6. Kubwa, The Grand Spirit of the Zebra’s

Kubwa has always been considered a strange one, because he is the only race god that doesn’t look like the race he has created. Instead of being a Zebra, he is a spider with multiple eyes and sixteen legs instead of eight. He has a strange pattern on his thorax that changes color and shape every so often, yet only he knows the meaning behind it. Kubwa was the one only of his brothers and sisters who spent the most time with Mordum, the God of Death, and they had a very close relationship. While, other gods were more interested in creating life and seeking to make it strong and perfect, Kubwa was focused on death and making it perfect. For, in fact, he is the first one who created the concept of an afterlife.

There was a time when no afterlife was given to anybody, spirits of the dead would fall into the void and slowly fade overtime. Kubwa felt pity for these spirits, and so he used a special web of his to catch these spirits after they died and trap them, both animal and sentient. He would them put them in a special cocoon where they would sleep as he then used his powers to craft a special afterlife for them. A place that would become known as the Wandering Willows. He split himself up into multiple smaller forms, and used his special web to create the new alternate plane of existence where only souls could reside. Unleashing his captives from their sleep, he welcomed them into the first created afterlife, and they were happily attended by his smaller versions who provided them food, warmth, comfort, and joy. Saddened they were in life, they were now happy in life.  The gods would later use this web to capture the souls of those that have died and judge them there.

Upon seeing this, the other gods (except for Centarus) decided to create their own afterlives for their creations. However, there was still those in the void who were slowly fading away. Kubwa decided to journey into the void itself to retrieve these spirits at the cost of being trapped himself. The other spirits of his realm decided to join him out of thanks. Mordum himself helped by giving them his blessing, and together they saved as many spirits as they could, but some were too faded to be saved. Feeling sorry for these damaged spirits, he decided to use his creation powers to make his race. They would be called the Zebra, and they would always have a sixth sense in terms regarding the afterlife and death. The Zebras would always contain memories of their past lives upon adult hood, helping them grow into wise creatures who never once fought among themselves. Their duties were to nature, to spirits, and to healing.

Kubwa set them up in the dangerous jungles of Zebrawa, a place nobody dared to journey due to for the restless animal spirits, demons, and dangerous poisoned plants that reside. However, having already died once, they felt no fear and thrived in it, and for many years they remained isolated with very few seeing or speaking to them, even fewer going to meet them. This has led to rumors of them being necromancers, witch doctors, and curse bringers upon seeing them. In reality, they focus on handling spirits unable to cross over and guide them to Kubwa who gives them his paradise.

Standing With Other Gods: All the race gods owe Kubwa for their afterlives as he was the first to invent it. The only god he doesn’t get along with is Centarus since he gave his creatures no souls, so he cannot save them from their fate.

Looks: Giant golden spider with fifty eyes, sixteen legs, and a pattern on his thorax that changes color and shape every so often.

Religious Structure: Very much like the African Tribal way of worship.

Afterlife: Wandering Willows, a jungle of a place filled with spirits of all types, mended by smaller versions of Kuwab who act as guides and servants, providing you everything you need to be happy. There is also the Pool of Return, should you wish to be reincarnated into a new life.

Sounds like a good god. How many deities do you have left to make profiles of?

For now I kinda hope Blueblood’s father gets chucked into the void for what he did to Twilight. I get the feeling that even this guy would have been upset with Twilight death.

Really liked this deity.
