You all remember this blog post? Well, if you don't, kindly click on that link and re-read it. In fact, go ahead and re-read it anyway, just to refresh yourselves.
All done? Good.
Now, the reason I bring this up is because, as of the recent edits to "A Shimmering New Year", things have changed regarding the secrets surrounding Sunset Shimmer and her time at Canterlot High. Item One from that post still holds. Item Two also still holds, though I've since confirmed the identity of the fifth individual mentioned in that to be the human version of Sapphire Shores (and edited the story to reflect that), though whether or not she knows about Sunset is still up in the air.
Item Three is where things start to change, as in the current version of the story, Sunset has opted to give full disclosure about what's happened to Vinyl Scratch. Thus, Vinyl is now aware of everything Sunset knows, along with the rest of her immediate circle of friends. Vinyl, however, has no reason or desire to share this information with anyone, and is content to maintain the secret, save under circumstances which could constitute life or death.
Take note that this is directly due to the appearance of Crystal Faire. Without her involvement, Vinyl would remain in the dark for the time being.
Item Four remains as-is. Sunset, by the time of the second epilogue, has been informed of the full details regarding Crystal Faire by Twilight Sparkle, and has shared that information with Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna. They, in turn, have relayed that information to Dr. Radiant Hope and Zecora (and possibly Sapphire Shores), though Zecora has yet to share that information with Lyra and Bon-Bon. Lyra and Bon-Bon, meanwhile, have probably not gotten any information regarding the presence of Crystal Faire or the second Twilight, as they were seen by very few people, and those who did see them are keeping that fact to themselves.
Items Five and Six remain as-is. Item Seven, however, has changed, as Doctor Time Turner, Amethyst Star and Roseluck all saw Crystal Faire and the second Twilight for themselves. For now, this only gives them further evidence that something is going on at CHS.
The biggest change to come from this is what we can now call Item Eight. Photo Finish, Violet Blurr and Pixel Pizazz, in addition to what they saw and experienced at the Fall Formal (or were told second hand in the case of Violet), have seen Crystal Faire and the second Twilight. They're still processing what's going on, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to think they may want to dig deeper into what's going on around them. Again, without Crystal Faire's involvement, this wouldn't have come to pass.
And at the risk of giving out a spoiler, this may not be a bad thing. It may not be a good thing either, of course, but time will tell. And I'm looking forward to when that time comes.
