Another one down! · 12:31am Oct 14th, 2017
Y'know, I probably should have waited 'til sometime other than a Friday night (much less that of Friday the 13th) to finish a story, but eh. What can you do?
(That, and I had some time to kill before I go to watch an actual Friday the 13th movie, because hockey-mask zombies murderizing teenagers is surprisingly entertaining).
But yeah! Finished off Octavia's Eleven. Hope it didn't come off as too rushed-- if I feel ambitious I might go back and tweak some of the dialogue between Carrot and Flash at the end. I think I mostly just got impatient because I wanted to get to that stinger in the epilogue. What do you guys think?
In any case, with Octavia's Elevenfinished, I think I'm gonna take a little bit of a break from silly pony stories. Writing the Flash Sentry Papers has been a load of fun, even if they haven't been nearly as popular as my more 'traditional' MLP stories. Which makes sense, as most people wanna read about the actual characters from the actual cartoon. (Well that, or they're here for the clopfic).
Over the past year or so, I've written over 86,000 words about Flash Sentry and Carrot Top's misadventures, which ... I realize, is about the length of a proper novel. In fact, I started working on The Prisoner of Zebra after coming to a grinding halt on my NaNoWriMo effort last year. So, with this in mind, I'm gonna try to focus on some original work that I could theoretically sell to a publisher. If folks are nice I might even share a few excerpts here and there to see if I'm on the right track or not. Who knows!
Then again, I'm also gonna go see that PONY MOVIE on Sunday so there may be a Volume Five of the Flash Sentry Papers before you know it.
If you'd be interested in self-publishing, quite a few of use would probably buy Dead Tree copies of your stories.
Hope the new movie gives you some inspiration. I'm sure we're all on the edge of our seats wondering where Flash was during the events of the movie. I'm pretty sure I saw Carrot Top at one point, so we know Flash was around... somewhere. Oh, I wonder if the royal guards were all rendering aid to some allied nation during the events of the movie?
I might get to see the pony movie next weekend if all goes well.
