Set in the "Chess Game of the Gods"

:ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused::ajbemused:

Is this some kind of joke? This is almost as bad as regular HiE, hell, even worse, since they all use the same idiotic pattern. Seriously, is it SO HARD to come up with an original plot? I have no idea who the hell came up with this idea, I hate this even more than that retarded story swap project (LOEG?)

Not to mention the whole idea is just ridiculous. I mean, seriously?

And now to the worst part: even popular authors (such as Nathan from Omnius travels - my fav HiE actually) do this shit.

Do they want to be, I do not know, mainstream?

There you have your issue.
Now excuse me, I have to keep writing on the same bloody universe I've been doing since February. And by that I mean write on the secrit. And by that I mean maybe after schoolwork. And by that I mean probably not, in favor of XCOM.
That game is amazing, even though it's a bit depressing I've already lost like ten soldiers. What? Oh, no, of course those were all r63 doods. And Doctor Awesome. That is really a loss to mourn.

Azu

I haven't read any of the Chess Game of the Gods fic's, I don't really have that much interest in them. They all sound really self indulgent to me.

What is this thing?
The stories in their group ... none of them look the least bit interesting.
And they have an official canon which is guarded by Regulators? What is with people and fan canon? What about show canon, huh? What about the fact that ponies clearly do not have genitals, and yet you are writing about them having sex?
I do not understand this, except that it makes me want to cry.

I haven't even heard of Chess game of the Gods.

(Checks the page)

I cannot be bothered to read all that. I can get a gist of the purpose and feel of the group, if not the universe as a whole. what is the universe?

Zel, could you elaborate on HiE? I'm not familiar with the acronym.

As for this, I don't see why you let it bother you. A few people decided to get together and all write in the same universe, to interconnect their stories and events. A few other people liked it and joined it. Even more joined, and they developed a system for approving/rejecting stories and protecting their universe and their overarching story line. If that's what they want to do, let them be. Obviously if people outside the group enjoy reading it, then its fine.

If it's not, then it seems like it might be breaking a rule of FimFiction.net. Specifically, the one that says "Stories that are clearly written as an in-joke between a group of people with little relevance to those outside the group, colloquially known as 'circle-jerking.'"

Not having read any of them, I can't say for sure. But it may be a matter for moderator attention.

HiE is Human in Equestria, I believe.

420137 Ah, I see. Thanks.

Well...it's the same thing, then. Not really something I'm going to read about all the time, but if it's something people enjoy, who am I to tell them it shouldn't be on here?

Were it against the rules, it would be one thing. Seeing as how it isn't, I don't really know what you're complaining about Zel. You don't want to read HiE fics, don't read 'em.

I actually have one story in my "read later", Chains that involves humans (and isn't a parody of something). It's not something I would normally find appealing, but this one sounded interesting. But any clop involving submission or dominance or ropes and chains and stuff like that really isn't for me, and I automatically skip over it. So I still get where you're coming from Zel.

zel

421594 No no no, you misunderstood me. I ADORE HumanInEquestria (Not unorginal self-insert, but interesting concepts, like mentioned Chains), I mean the idiotic concept behind the whole "Game of Chess" or whatever is this called - I would hate it equally if it was ponies as protagonists, (okay, little less, but disregard this) I just cannot stand the boring concept behind these stories. If you are going to write a fic based around an existing idea, fine, but do not write hundred of them. This became a justification for HiE, since everyone went "Oh Luna please, not another boring self-insert", now the authors say "Oh, this is not self-insert, it is just that we need human for the GoC, it is completely not my fault"

Yeah, something like that.

421677 I think I see. (thinks)

Yeah, I can definitely see where you're coming from. I agree that I would prefer to have these people's talents directed toward original stories (something only they can tell because of their experiences, values, and individual outlook), than continuing with a long-term thread, but it is ultimately their choice. Maybe newer writers doing this are looking for some confidence before starting a new project of their own?

I know it's been ages since I wrote a chapter, Zel. I've been hit with a bout of listlessness :ajsleepy:. Kinda finding it hard to write. I'll let you know.

422141 Hey, no prob, I have this always!

(Is in ur blag, respondin 2 days old comments in which I wasn't involved)

428754 Yes. Let the insanity flow through you! Embrace all of your inner shittiness. Now, go, and claim feature!

zel

428756 But... I wanted to write a good story :pinkiesad2:

428771 It's either quality or recognition, m'boi. Though, if you were to write a story with character personalities tailored to fit OCs, but pressed onto Mane 6 despite matching like shit and piss, you could avoid the tag 'This is a self-insert' despite it being true! Instant feature!

zel

428779 Actually, now I feel like writing a fic about spaceships.
(confound you, Mass Effect!)

428787 Erm, well...
Do it, I guess. A Mass Effect crossover, what a brand new idea. Actually, you could do something with it, like...
Imagine the Wendigos weren't overwhelmed through harmony, but instead through plain unicorn power. That is another solution to the same problem, however, it meant that the pony races were never united and thus, the conflict was never resolved to begin with. Naturally, war broke out eventually. While the guerilla tactics of the pegasi proved effective against the unicorns, they are the ones who hold back the spirits of disharmony, and thus wield the greatest weapon imaginable. Due to living under the storms on the ground, earth ponies have already been consumed by this conflict, and now commander Rainbow Dash has to figure out a way to stop the unicorns' devastating march while keeping tomorrow in mind. Through tribal sorcery that any pony may perform, not just unicorns, they manage to build a ritual that will forever end this conflict, but she hesitates, partially due to Fluttershy, who is in love with Twilight Sparkle. She has the known three options:

- Destroy all that wield magic as a weapon, but she fears how well they will fare without their assistance. Also, FS.

- Control their collective mind. Then again, can you call somebody who is forced to like you a friend?

- Synthethise. Merge the DNA of all surviving ponies. This will create a utopian race of alicorn ponies with no motivation to fight amongst each other, but is there a border for what means are permitted for the greater good?

Obviously, she'd choose green. Or you make the readers vote because you'll obviously be in feature by then. Anyway, end really buckety with Twilight monologueing as she drifts through the resulting civilisation, always remembering Rainbow's sacrifice. Add lines from the ME3 ending as you would salt and pepper.

I take everything remotely related to writing too seriously, don't I.

zel

428830 Holy... Fuck.
Well, disregarding the whole romance part, the concept of races is incredibly saucy.
Ponies in space...

Each tribe has different spaceship design...
Spaceships....

- Destroy all that wield magic as a weapon, but she fears how well they will fare without their assistance. Also, FS.
- Control their collective mind. Then again, can you call somebody who is forced to like you a friend?
- Synthethise. Merge the DNA of all surviving ponies. This will create a utopian race of alicorn ponies with no motivation to fight amongst each other, but is there a border for what means are permitted for the greater good?

>implying I played ME3
>1ghz CPU
first ME barely runs on lowest settings. Actually surprising it somehow runs.

428845 Well, I guess you could also do it with spaceships, if you really want.
And I guess you really don't need to have played ME3. Hell, I haven't played any part!
It does provide a wonderful conflict between means and humanity, one that I'd love to tackle. You know, if I wasn't bound by what I've started already. And I can't do it as a quickie either, because that kind of thing really needs time, for you to watch as the enemy demonstrates nothing is sacred to them and Dashie slowly loses her own restraints of humanity in favor of doing what she has to... or does she?

zel

428851 You sound as if Dash actually had something that resembles humanity.

Oh how amusing, characteristics of ponies described as humanity. How punny!

428859 I so knew this was going to happen and wanted to write into the comment that I think using a writearound for such stuph if pointless, but then figured you'd get the point. Well, point for me! Ha, you've just been outpunned!
Also, given that they speak a human language, have human emotions, use human expressions...
