I would love to just let loose on my blog and discuss things like sex toys and stuff like that. Problem is I have a 10 year old daughter who sometimes reads my blogs... and asks questions. While she has never barged in on us during coitus (God, I sound like Sheldon Cooper!), she has rattled the door knob and knocked on the door.
Once, she asked through the door, I was all right. I told her I was. She then asked "Then why are you making that Huhhh sound?" Well, that just killed the mood. Hard to proceed when you are dying laughing!
She's getting to that age where we need to start discussing sex. I've already talked to her about periods. And I let it slip that men play a role in women getting pregnant. Actually, I had to tell her that because she was starting to think getting pregnant was something that just happens when you grow up.
I know I'm screwing this up, but at least I'm telling her more than my mother told me. A friend of mine and I once cornered my mother and asked her "What does f-ck mean?" You want to talk about deer caught in the headlights! She told us to look it up in the dictionary. We told her we did look up, but we didn't understand what "sexual intercourse" was. She then sent us to the gynecologist, who put us in a room and showed us a slide presentation of menstruation. Which we already knew about because we had already seen the film at school.
I didn't learn what it meant till I was high school and even then, I was as dumb as a box of rocks.
I hope Pinkie Wannabe doesn't read this.

Making an effort to be honest, is in my opinion; the best thing a parent can do in your situation.

Thank you. My problem is being too honest.
