That's the scariest shit I've ever experienced. · 3:01am Sep 26th, 2017

A few days ago we had another earthquake, which was way more violent than the last one. I went to the terrace and heard cracking noises all around. I wasn't able to walk, just stand there not falling down. Honestly, I thought the house was going to fall down at the end and hoped I wouldn't get too hurt.

I lost electricity, internet, and phone service for hours. I was able to contact my family in Mexico City after a few hours. I didn't know how bad it had been until I heard on the car radio that the images looked like the ones from the devastating earthquake of 1985. That's when my heart sank.

Then the videos came, which were horrible. Then it was heartbreaking story after heartbreaking story. And after the loss of life, there's the innumerable loss of housing and jobs. People lost their way of living overnight.

Then the help and solidarity. People just running to the rubble and removing it with their bare hands, trying to rescue any people that might still be alive. People contributing and donating, or helping in the shelters with whatever skills they had. There were cooks, clowns, doctors, chiropractors, handymen, clergymen, etc. at the one I went to.

It will take lots of time to recover, but we will.

Thank you very much. It has been a difficult experience. Buildings about 3 blocks away from the departments of my father and brother fell. I think the saddest part, after the loss of life, is that people lost their homes and sources of income. Their places of work were destroyed or damaged so they can't even earn money to reconstruct. All my private classes were cancelled, but I still consider myself lucky, as they have restarted.

No worries. Hearing news like this is very sad, and its at moments like these that we do what we can and reach out to one another. I can't help you from my keyboard, but at the very least I hope I can offer some moral support and to let you know that we do listen, and that we do care.

I wish you, and every person you know and don't, the very best in those tragic circumstances.

Hi ,

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

Things are a bit better. I've been helping a bit at a shelter around here for 800 people that lost their houses. I can't contribute much, but I feel I'm doing something.

All my cancels were cancelled, which left me with no income, but they have slowly restarted and I'm now able to earn some money.

By the way, your message really helped. Honestly, I felt very disappointed that nobody in the brony community here or elsewhere even mentioned anything about the tragedy. I mean, it's not like we're on the other side of the world. I was even thinking about leaving the fandom. I didn't even think it was a good idea to post about it. So, thank you.

Karen. Seriously don't mention it, I'm just a keyboard warrior :twilightblush:. Thank you for keeping me informed. I don't mind waiting for your responses and am glad to hear that things are looking better for you and your community.

What you are doing by helping others is amazing and nothing to belittle. Every little bit helps, and I don't doubt that those people appreciate every act of kindness and generosity. I know I would. I believe that even a smile or saying hello to a stranger is an act of charity and kindness. :pinkiehappy:

I mean, it's not like we're on the other side of the world.

I live in Australia, so yeah I am from the other side of the world :twilightblush:. Even from here, you have my keyboard support. Don't lose faith in people but instead become an example of what we all could be. Be the better person, because when one person stands, others will soon follow.

I cannot do much from my desk, but I figure that by keeping an eye on people's post, and responding with kind words and positive messages I can make someone's day a little brighter.

So I am glad that I was able to help you, and am proud to see you help others. Your welcome and thank you for letting me help you.

Well, thank you for your words. I really felt like no one cared and I'm glad to see that at least someone did.

My plan is to go give math or English classes to children once per week and to give classes to adults on how to run a small business. I'm trying to get other teachers involved. Let's see how it goes.

Here are some pics of the shelter I'm helping at, in case you wanted to see them.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. The past two weeks have been a bit hectic, and I had to become a house husband. I saw your photos. It's a little hard to look at admittedly, but still I am proud to see what you have done for your community and the community spirit thriving in those hard times. Keep up the good work! You're doing a great job.
