EQUESTRIA GIRLS/STARFLEET HUMANS Differences & Similarities · 7:27pm Sep 9th, 2017
(Since there's no MLP episode this week, I'll make this instead)
-In EQG: Sunset Shimmer Steals Twilight's crown hoping to use its power to takeover the human world, but she accidentally loses it. In SFH, it is similar when the Rainbow Rod is stolen by Saphira of the Crystalites, and in the ensuing chaos she also drops the rod and loses it in the human world.
-Both Lightning and Twilight are then compelled to venture forth into the Human World to reclaim their stolen items for fear of the great dangers involved should their enemies find them.
-While Lightning and Twilight both travel to the human world, rather than using the Mirror Gateway, Lightning enters the Human World via a jewel owned by Saphira which she had dropped on their first encounter.
-Twilight's time limit was 3 days (72 hours) in which the portal to Equestria would remain open, otherwise she would have to wait 30 moons (30 months/ 2 and-a-half years) before the portal would re-open again. Lightning's time limit was 30 days (720 hours) as the transport jewel was damaged and would lose all power, which would consequently trap Lightning in the Human World forever!
-Though Lightning and Twilight both transformed into human versions of themselves, unlike Twilight, Lightning did not retain his original skin white coloring (His skin was of a peach tone) and unlike Twilight losing all her abilities until she transformed, Lightning still retrained his his super strength and speed due to them being natural built-in abilities. (But this could also be due to the fact that transport-jewel he used did not affect him as the Mirror Gate affected Twilight.
-Krysta and Spike both travel to the human world with their partners, and both take on alternate animal forms (Spike: a Dog and Krysta: a Robin) and both still retain the ability to speak, which surprise the human friends upon finding out.
-While as a Robin, Krysta has the ability to communicate with and control other birds, while Spike is not shown to possess any other ability than to speak.
-In the original EQG movie, the city of Canterlot is never fully explored, as all happenings occurred around Canterlot High. There is not even any indication of what part of the world the city resides in. While in SFH the city is shown to be just part of a large island landscape dubbed "Mystic Island" which is revealed to be several miles off the shores of California, and the island itself is shown to roughly the same size of Manhattan Island, with a few large metropolises, suburban areas, farmlands and wetlands, and large parks. (These areas are shown when Lightning first arrives and explores his new surroundings)
-Twilight did not take any courses at Canterlot High, while Lightning became a full-fledged student in attempts to learn more about the human world and possibly gain information to help him locate his missing Rainbow Rod weapon.
-While Twilight stayed in Canterlot High’s library to serve as her shelter, Lightning was put in the home of Celesto Grandruler (the human counterpart of Grand Ruler Celesto) as a kind of foster care.
-In EQG, Principal Celestia’s past remains a mystery, while in SFH she was revealed to be a former champion horse rider (Not a Rancher) and owned a stallion named Bud, and that she and Celesto were in love.
-In EQG, Celestia appears to be a mild-mannered woman of society who encourages all her students to try their best and to help those in need. While in SFH, prior to Twilight’s mission, she was shown to be a very irate person, often getting in people’s faces, showing high amounts of temperament for the silliest of reasons (IE: When people would say “Hello” or smile at her)
-Celestia’s anger was revealed to be out of frustration and heartbreak when Celesto and She parted ways before she could confess her true feelings to him, and then Bud was spooked while performing a jump (Saphira had shot the horse with a ball-bearing in attempt to stir up fun and chaos) causing him to crash and have serious, irreparable damage to his legs, meaning he had to be euthanized.
-Celestia temporarily loses her job after getting into a heated argument with Lightning Dawn, and committing assault, (She threw the first punch) as well as her years of poor conductivity and irrational behaviour!
-While Twilight’s human-counterpart did not make her debut until the end of “Rainbow Rocks”, before having an official introduction in “Friendship Games” her original human-counterpart is seen in SFH, but she is not yet the brainy genius she was depicted as, and practically spawned a heated rivalry with Lightning, before she was attacked by the Crystallites and knocked into a coma, which was how she gained her genius (Possibly due to cranial-brain trauma from the attack) which strangely wiped her memories of Lightning, the aliens, and all her experience at Canterlot High. This helped to forward Twilight’s roles in the upcoming sequels in the series.
-Just as Twilight’s friends from Equestria had human-counterparts living in the human world, Lightning’s friends also had human-counterparts, and indeed shared many similarities with their pony-counterparts, but they did not have every single solitary detail in common (They did not originally possess super strength and speed like Lightning, and they all attended Canterlot high, despite their pony-counterparts hailing from Unicornicopia) Starfleet Magic creator, Michael Mikulak, stated: “It was my theory that even though the ponies and the humans all had SOME similarities one another, there naturally had to be differences as well, to keep the two worlds on their own accord. After all you don’t want to make them exactly, 100% identical when it’s supposed to be “A strange NEW world.”
-In EQG, when Pinkie Pie questions Twilight about being “…a pony princess from a magical world” and the other students disbelieve it initially. In SFH, due to Lightning’s adventures, and the students already seeing magic and dangers prior to Twilight’s mission, their initial disbelief of Pinkie’s assumption could be a mere disbelief that a similar problem has occurred.
-In EQG, Twilight’s new friends were having a falling out due to Sunset Shimmer’s pranking them with false information. This does not seem to have happened in SFH, though it should be noted this happened beforehand, and that Sunset could have pranked the girls after she had returned from stealing Twilight’s crown, or even done before venturing to Equestria to steal the crown.
-In SFH, due to having a much longer time period than Twilight did, Lightning begins to promote higher school spirit and help others by participating in a school theatrical production, and even playing with the Canterlot Wondercolts at a championship basketball game (The prize of which is the Rainbow Rod)
-Crystal Prep Academy makes its Debut in “Friendship Games” but is mentioned in SFH and revealed that Saphira is under the guise of the school’s principal as her cover.
-In SFH, Human Flash Sentry is revealed to in fact be a Crystallite and the son of Saphira (The real Flash Sentry and his mother were revealed to have been killed in a car-accident caused by the two villains) whom attends Canterlot High as a sleeper agent to search for the Rainbow Rod. His character was far more cunning and sinister than was in the EQG movie.
-Unlike Twilight and her friends using their powers to redeem Sunset Shimmer, Lightning and his friends do fierce battle with Saphira and Flash. While Saphria ultimately met her end (was destroyed in a big explosion) Flash was stripped of his powers and suffered from amnesia, forgetting his evil ways, turning him into the character for the EQG movie.
(That’s all for the moment, but there might be updates… Keep a sharp eye)
