I, Monster: Slight delay. Q&A Session · 6:05am Sep 2nd, 2017

Well, that. I don't know how much else to say beyond that. Due to (maybe) unforeseen stuff (forgot the word that goes here). Very sorry, guys, please don't be mad... beyond the reasonable.

So, in order to compensate the legion of people that was surely staying awake, waiting for chapter five (all three of you), I'll hold a Q&A session in real time (probably).

So, ask away, and you shall receive answers (yeah, sure).

I didn't remember this story was supposed to update tonight, I didn't pay attention. :derpytongue2: Schedules seem too hard for fanfiction writers because, well, they have lives. :rainbowderp: In other words: no problem. But the blogs are appreciated.

I do have a question: In this story, is Trixie going to be separated from the mane six? Is she going to think that is bad for them to have her as a friend, because of the whole monster thing?

Nightwalker and I held the publication of the entire first act until the chapters that compose it were (mostly) finished. Then, we set them to be published on a weekly schedule (Friday's nights, give or take a few hours). Except the last one (5), which is still a final edition away from completion.

Now, I can't reveal the plot, otherwise reading the story would lose the edge of unknown. However, since the second part of the question focus on the motivations, I can offer an educated guess.

Trixie's character arc in Dead was from social outcast to loyal friend. It's marked in how at the beginning of the story refused to address Twilight on her first name, and ended the story committing self sacrifice. So, given how Dead's ending is Monster's square one, at least Trixie putting others' safety over hers is now in character.

The question that remains is that if Trixie would see herself as a hazard, or if she would find more safety in staying around where she can be checked on. It heavily depends on how does she sees herself and her friends. If she stays, that means she doesn't consider herself to be a threat bigger than what the Six can handle. On the other hand, if she does run away, it means she sees herself too much of a danger to be played with.

So I give you back the distilled question. How do you see Trixie seeing herself, and her friends?

Yes, I imagined that at this moment Trixie hasn't make a decision. I respect that you don't want to spoil the plot.

At the end of Dead Trixie seemed to actually understand friendship, and care a lot for the rest of the gang, I liked that. What made me ask the question, it's Trixie's reaction to Lightning Dust, and what she did to the pegasus; specially how she didn't want Dust to call Twilight. Obviously this is something hard to confront that would make herself feel dangerous, and makes sense that she would carefully consider her next move. But I'd like to think that Trixie has matured enough, to not fall into the Trope of staying away from the ponies you love, for their protection, but then complicate things. Trixie should at least consider contact them in some way, maybe on her own terms. Of course there's much I don't know about Trixie's new "demonic stage", and there could be darker things at play, things that could believably make her run and stay away.

okay, q&a, sweet.
First question about the story, are we going to see a few other nods to spawn in this?

I mean, I don't want to be a "Violator" of your story, in fact I personally find that this story is of a "Redeemer" variety if I do say so myself. But then again, some people might think of my opinion as me being a "Vandalizer" of your story.
Okay, okay, I'll stop.

Second question, are we going to be seeing more of the Mare of Death?
Third question, will we be seeing other varieties of the denizens of the afterlife?
Fourth question, Is there going to be a confrontation between Trixie and Sombra in some fashion?
Fifth question, Vanilla or Chocolate?
Sixth question, Does Trixie have the capability to digest food?
Seventh question, Has Trixie thought about trying to figure out what her new outfit can do?
Eighth question, whom is Trixie tied to now?
Ninth question, Are we going to see Necron anytime soon, or possibly Malbogia?
and finally Tenth question, and this is really important, now, cones or bowls?

And that brings another question: How will Trixie face this complication? There's the dichotomy of fight or flight, which translates to stay and confront, or leave avoid contact?

We know canon Trixie can deal with minor damages, like in the real Magic Duel, but from treating the Six like garbage to crippling a close friend, it's a way big jump in severity.

Because, despite having matured as a character in regards to interpersonal relationships, there's still a detail; it's all still new to Trixie. If we take the parallel to Twilight, Trixie has only been around for half of the third season, which isn't even half of the first season. So Trixie still has a lot to learn in regards of trust and faith. So, where is the breaking point?

On the other hand, Trixie does have to have gained a better understanding of consequences. For example, she saw Lightning Dust was pretty much a remake of her waiting to happen. Therefore, at the opportunity, Trixie broke the cycle. So, if Trixie has become self-aware enough, she would understand why she can't face this alone.

And that's without taking in account the external factors. Can the Six reach her? Would Ponyville accept having a walking apocalypses around? What will the Princesses do?

Again, I'll operate under the "no spoilers" policy.

In regards to Spawn, or other more direct crossovers, we're still debating over. Although I'd like to make this a massive multiplayer crossover, truth is that we do prefer this story to hold by itself. Therefore, although the iconic suit appeared already, plus the necroplasm being around since the beginning, making it more straightforward is a jump from where we are in narrative terms.

On that same note, the elements we've introduced in story will serve a purpose. For the same reason as above, the story's identity comes through developing itself. The Bone Mare, while not a signature, is one of those 'own' elements of the story, so, while I can't reveal that much, I can say we haven't seen the last of her or the surrounding lore.

Vainilla, cone, with a lot of dulce de leche.

We already saw that Trixie regained her ability to eat in Dead. We still don't know if it's an instinct, a remaining habit or a need.

I think Trixie's mind is still busy with figuring out what has happened to her, and to her friends.

Well, what makes me happy is that all those points are being taken into consideration. :pinkiehappy: I would have hated if this story would have just go with the tropes.

I'll happily wait for the answer to some of those interesting questions within the story. :twilightsheepish: After all, this is your interpretation of Trixie.

But in regards to the second to last question:

Would Ponyville accept having a walking apocalypses around?

Pinkie Pie lives there... nuff said.

thank you for answering all that. So, since you operate under a 'No Spoilers' policy, I'm curious, what sort of universes are we not going to be seeing in this?

I mean, Even if you just tell us one universe we're not going to see, I'll be happy. (Even if it's completely random and won't even impact the story in any way, shape, or form. It'd be nice to know.)

feh, few more questions, Favorite baked good?
(my mind isn't working right now) Does Trixie still have her Cutie Mark?
How many times is this that Trixie has come back from death?
(wonder if this goes against your 'No Spoilers' policy) Will Trixie end up with amnesia every time she comes back from being dead? Favorite pizza topping?
and finally, your personal choice of an end of the world scenario, what would you choose?

A reason f the slow (poke) writing process is that we play almost every scenario first before getting into writing.

Also, as I said in another comment, if Trixie is now Spawn, Pinkie is Deadpool.

Now we only need a Hellboy and a Lobo, and we got our league of 90's anti-heroes.

4656217
That's a really thought question. If I had to point something out of my writing style is that I reference everything I know about. I guess I got the idea from Planetary, or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The only works I wouldn't reference are the ones I'm not entirely familiar with, and even then it's a 50/50. If I had to pick ne for sure, that'd be... Counter Strike. And i had to think about it.

I'm more of a cakes and muffins kind of guy, although anything sweet will catch my eye... and teeth.

Trixie's Cutie Mark hasn't been addressed so far. Weird, isn't it? For what we saw in Dead, the Alicorn Amulet did recreate it when reconstructing Trixie's body.

So far, in Dead she came back twice. Once in the hospital and another after the balloon and tornado situation.

The first time was because most of her brain was literally new, so the amnesia was mostly because she was still... installing the OS. In Monster it doesn't seem to be a justification. Similar cases (Nightmare Moon, Discord, Sombra) didn't suffer from it after being enclosed by the EoH

I love meat lovers pizza.

I prefer Mad Max style of slow social collapse. Specially over the more common radioactive theme that's going on. Also, zombies are overused at this point.
