That answer is easy and simple (for me at least).
The best villain is clearly Chrysalis (I know some might disagree, but she's one of the most backstory villains we have as in lack of it, sort of).
Think about it, she can be ANYTHING she wants to be at ANY TIME Her plan to invade Canterlot was a success and the only thing that stopped it was the power of true love, NOT the elements or harmony and we don't know if they CAN stop her or not. And finally, she has good leadership skills and is smart, crafty, and patient. If not for the OPness of magic she could be in charge, and in an alternate timeline, she IS. Changelings aren't stupid, they are some of the most deadly creatures YOU SHOULD FEAR
I have INCREDIBLE respect for her, and if she were in real life the governments all around the world would want her
Sure, chaos magic is good, but you can't control chaos, it is LITERALLY a wild card, unpredictable
With Discord, you'd get nothing done...
With Chrysalis, you can topple an empire in a day

If I went up against Discord, no problem, I LOVE Chaos and chaos magic.
Against Chrysalis, I stand no chance.
If I had to choose any villain to fight, it's Discord, Chrysalis would be my last choice, sure, Sombra might torture me or mind control me, but at least he won't try to destroy EVERYTHING I love and care about by lying and stealing and impersonating other ponies and blackmail and the list can go on for quite some time.

Chrysalis is the cunning planning type, still Equestriansare not the smartest I would definitely have invested in anti changling magic research after that incident. Also I don't understand how she captured the Crystal empire, Ponyville and Canterlot in 2 days., still thatis not her fault this is just stupid plot points that make no sense. The season 6 finale would have been much mor eintersting IF the mane were still left but had to maintain peace as the last guardian of Equstria leavign the rescue attempt in the hooves of Starlight, Trixie Discord and maybe a few others, you know what it makes nos ens but Gilda, Spike and maybe a pony like Big Mac or Bon Bon who could take a prominent role.

Tirek is a better villain because he only lost because of a seed for a crystal treehouse and if he wanted to he could take Chrysalis's magic and become 3x OP. He has always been the best villain so far. Tirek is by far the strongest villain so far.
I would like to know how the imposters were able to so easily take on the mane six, when in the season 2 final they were able to defeat a number of changelings on their own. I can think of some possibilities but I'd still like to see it
I fully agree. If MLP is going to have one eternal villain who defies any attempt at reformation or permanent defeat, it'd be Chrysalis. She has a unique design, a dastardly personality, and provides just the right level of villain threat. Enough threat to be taken seriously when she shows up, but not so much threat that she's a critical danger to Equestria simply by being at large (unlike Tirek and previously Discord).
To me, Chryssy is and always will be the go-to villain of FiM.

Yeah although with the other changeling hive in existence she has a different target and also has sworn vegeance on Starlight, still they should have captured her, urrgh Equestrians are such stupids sometimes.

Yeah, it's odd that they didn't go after her immediately. Conversely, they don't seem overly concerned that Chrysalis is at large.
In terms of villain threat, I like to compare The Joker and Darkseid. Joker is really dangerous, definitely an A-list villain, but he's not a threat to the world at large. It's definitely better to have him caught, but it's not a huge deal if he's running around doing his thing while the heroes focus their attention elsewhere. On the other hand, if Darkseid is on Earth, the heroes absolutely need to funnel all of their resources towards defeating him at the exclusion of all else. He has to be focused on until he's been dealt with.
Personally I think Chryssy is closer to the Joker type of threat while Tirek is closer to Darkseid.

As seen in Silverquill's video on villain's, the villains club is running a bit thin, we have reformed Discord, Trixie, Gilda, Starlight, Luna, most of the changelings. Leaving Film and Flam, Tirek, Miss Chrysalis and Sombra plue that guy from the daring doo episodes as the remaining villains. If we add the EQG movies we have Sunset Shimmer,Human Twilight, Gloriosa Daisy, Juniper Montage, The Shadowbolts as reformed villains with the Dazzlings being the only non-reformed ones and they have no power now. Being a unreformed Villain in MLP puts you in the smallest group.

Adagio, Discord, and Cozy are my favourites. Adagio's so monstrous and intimidating and smart and effective and everything about her is so villainously perfect. Discord's just so much fun and is smart at the same time. Cozy is also very fun, incredibly manipulative, and completely unrepentant. She might be the smartest and most evil character the show has ever had. Chrysalis is a bit cliche and is far too overconfident once things start to go her way. Discord only lost because he didn't know the elements would win, so it was a toned down version of what happened with Chrysalis. Adagio lost because the Sirens were slightly less powerful than the Mane 7. The freakin' Tree of Harmony had to interfere for Cozy Glow to be stopped. All of their losses were less contrived, they were all more fun, and they were probably all smarter. The only thing Chrysalis might be in even playing field with them is her effectiveness, her evilness, and the fact that she's been able to come back again and again.
