Psst, hey, kids... want a free book? · 9:23pm Jul 19th, 2017

You may have heard of a user here on fimfic who goes by the name Viking ZX. With over 700 followers, he's one of the better (dare I say best?) known writers on the site, making him even more famous than me. Which is crazy, right? More famous than your boy JawJoe? Shenanigans, I say!

Anyhow, "Viking ZX" isn't just an excellent writer on this website. In case you're unaware, whenever he isn't creating stories about everyone's favourite pastel horses, he is actually being a serious, for-real author publishing under the name Max Florschutz. And not only that; he also runs a regular blog geared towards other writers (both the fanfic and "original" kind) where he posts in-depth advice for anyone looking to write an engaging story. I seriously recommend checking out his website, it's a gold mine.

So what's this about free books? Right now, just for a few days, he's giving one of his books away. By "giving it away" I mean actually giving it away. For free. No strings attached. A few clicks and it can be yours.

Jacob Rocke is a 'spook,' a private detective specially licensed by the government to look into 'unusual' situations. He's seen just about everything, so when a woman approaches him with a case involving a ghostly wolf, it seems like easy enough work. But dealing with the world of the unusual often isn't what it seems, and things quickly spiral into a mystery involving a menacing specter and dark magical arts threatening both him and his client.

One Drink is a novella of approximately 33,000 words, or roughly 100 pages.

Did I mention that it's free? Because just until this Friday, the book is completely free.

I should also mention that Max is doing more than just giving a book away. He's doing what he calls a "rolling sale," which basically boils down to this: the more free books he's able to give away this week, the cheaper all his other books are going to get (possibly even going free as well!). You can find more details on his website here.

So, does that book pique your interest? Want to support an author who is, shall we say, "one of us"? Do you just like free stuff? Well, now's the perfect time to act! Get your free book, write a review, support Max -- or Viking, if you prefer -- and feel good about it! What are you waiting for? Do it. Tell your friends. Go, go, go!

I'll definitely pick one up! And though I know it's unfit to compare his book to anything without reading it, from the desc. it even sounds a little like NS.
